Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Oh, are you one of the people who have sort of merged memories with an offshoot timeline version of themselves after I messed about with time a while back?" I ask.

 

"Where is everybody? I haven't even run into Sgavrinn. And he's usually there when I start dreaming."

Confused he enters the village, knocking on doors and trying to open them.
"Hello? Anyone?"

 

"No. Think of me as something like Emerald, but for your foe. I am Atavul's ascendant servant, and my strength is why your friend Stephanie is out of commission."

They open normally.
Still no response. Still nobody. You're just... alone.

 

"Well, you're just full of surprises, aren't you? I didn't think I'd want to kill you, but somehow you've managed it." I say.

 

She winks, smiling.
"Sorry, sweetheart. Usually I'd side with Ihra and vouch for love, but putting the god of war out of commission? That's like asking Emerald to watch you put Xlentia down and not psyblast you."

 

"Except Xlentia is nice and has actually helped in the effort against you deluded degenerate dumbasses supporting the hive master." I say, staring Rose in the eyes.

 

She just smiles.
"Is that how you feel about us? Are we all mind controlled, incompetent fools in your eyes? Are we all inferior because we choose to support someone different?"
Pause.
"I wanted to talk because I wanted to know you. A person behind the blade, the being behind the steeled cloak all wear on the battlefield. Just as you are a king behind your adventures, I am an officiant behind a tribal chieftess. I did not expect such a close friend of Ihra to burn with so much hatred."

 

"It comes from channeling my hatred toward humanity, really," I shrug, "And tell me this, can you really call yourself the good guys when you're supporting someone who wants to have everyone under his control because of his own selfish desires? Someone who tries to steal the will of the gods to change things for himself? Only the gods should have that power, because they are responsible with it. They don't create or destroy to their own personal whims and desires."

 

"I never called us the good guys - I think the Hive Master has taken his fury too far. However, I must ask you this in return - are those who leave extinction, destabilized governments that once knew peace, uncertainty, discord, and orphans in their wake truly the good guys?"

 

"Sacrifices must be made for the greater good. The repairs can come later, but there's no point trying to fix your model plane while the guy who smashed it still has the hammer," I say, "We're working on saving who we can. You can't save everyone, sometimes a head's gotta roll."

 

"I'm not denying that... but will you really? Everyone says they'll double back and make amends... 'they told me my sweet Petunia could not live, that they would not allow her to. I told them that I had seen the things they'd do to my child, and that I would never let them see that day if I could help it. I can help it, and I will help it.' That's what he told me, that's all he tells me. I don't think he's told anyone anything else." Rose says. "As you said, sometimes a head's gotta roll."

 

"Of course I will. In a perfect world, only the Hive Master would be killed. However, sometimes a few others have to-" I say, before stopping as I look past Rose, a mix of emotions on my face.

"...die." I finish, still looking past Rose.

 

"Emotions are tough. However, I do have to bring up one point while I'm here... if you'll double back, why did you leave the village tormented by the owners of that mansion to deal with the wreckage and the fires, and the overall destruction of their home?"

 

I don't respond, looking past Rose as tears start to form in my eyes.

 

She steps aside, remaining silent.

 

I get up from my throne and start running toward the exit, seeming to chase after something.

 

Rose just waits until a guard tells her to leave, or you return.

 

"Lets go then. Pretty much emptied my stomach as it is."

 

I don't come back, not even momentarily

 

"What's going on?"
He goes back outside.

"Guess I can do what I want then."
