It's a poison with no effects until midnight, then the poison strikes. Maybe the book can tell you more about it

 

Kyelas: "Midnight Tears has no effects until midnight, at which point it strikes. Althaios isn't the most durable member of our group, so the poison will very likely kill him. Althaios, can I see the book? There might be an antidote."

Kyelas (thinking): Lute was trying to learn the wish spell... Maybe I can get her to wish for Lilith's removal from existence...

I open it and look for the chapter on Midnight Tears.

 

Any sort of poison removing effect can work, like Cure Poison and Disease or Lesser Restoration


If you have one of the following kits, and are proficient in it, you can perform the following actions (I'm going to list everything poison-related, even if it's not useful_:

Alchemist's Supplies - Identify a poison
Brewer's Supplies - Detect poison or impurities in a drink
Cook's Utensils - Spot poison or impurities in food
Herbalism Kit - Identify poison
Poisoner's Tools - Spot a poisoned object
Poisoner's Tools - Determine the effects of an object

That being said, none of these really help. So you may need to resort to magic

Also, the poisoner's and herbalism kit give you advantage on medicine checks here, but once again require proficiency in the kit as well as having the actual kit

Kyelas: "Any sort of poison-removing spell works, like Lesser Restoration or Cure Poison and Disease. It's not a magic superpoison or something."

Also, I do have a herbalism kit AND proficiency in it.

 

You can use the kit with a DC 20 Medicine check to determine if it really is Midnight Tears or not. The check would be made on the bread, not on Althaios

Turns out that's not an actual spell, I was thinking of Detect Poison and Disease. So yeah, Lesser Restoration or something like that
