Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Thanks, mortals. I'll see what I can do in terms of sending aid."

"I think he's been watching us. He's shifted around a bit, and his head's pointed at us. He sort of hides it beneath his wing? It's creeping me out."

 

The Shadows leave silently.

As the Shadows head back to the library, one of the Shadows looks around for Emerald.

 

She's at the front desk, working with some holographic larvae.
"Yes?"

 

"Is it true Xlentia ate the king and queen whole?" The Shadow asks quietly.

 

She laughs.
"Sort of. They jumped down her throat willingly. She can't swallow things that small."

 

"Why would they do that? Did they want to be eaten?" The Shadow asks.

 

"I won't let him hurt you. Any of you."

 

"I'll keep that secret in the books. There was something inside of her they wanted, though."

"How?" The two centaur and Anne ask simultaneously.

 

Though the Shadow doesn't show it, Emerald can tell they're a little weirded out, heading back to their group and going back to the Realm of Shadows.

 

Emerald continues working with the larvae, keeping track of any other shadows going in, out, or moving through the palace.

 

The only Shadows are the ones in the library, staying in the void palace after they originally wrote up the books.

 

Emerald goes back to her work, eventually resulting in Xlentia poking her head back in the Shadow Realm.
"Hey, where's the king off at? I dunno what to send help for."

 

"I'm gonna buy you guys some time so that you can flee."

 

"He's away." The guard on duty says sternly.

 

"Flee where, though?"

"Great, that helps me as much as the attitude. What can I send to make things less painful right now?"

 

"Outside. Somewhere safer."
He looks outside the cave.
"I don't know this place, but everything is better then here if a fight happens."

 

The guard shrugs.

 

"Where else?"
"What's not safe about this? The dragon's right to not trust us. We're strangers, for all he cares."

"Numbers, funding, flowers..."

 

"The kingdom could use more funds to restore what was torn apart." The guard says.

 

"Did you already rip through seven hundred tons of gold coin?" Xlentia asks. "Bah, whatever. How much more? Another thousand?"
