I take out a rope, open the window, and drop the rope down. I also anchor it. If there's nothing to anchor it to, I embed an arrow in something heavy and anchor the rope to the arrow.

Alas doesn't have wings, and I don't want to use mine unless I need to because I can only use them once per rest... Can't remember if it needed to be a long rest.
