Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I don't think so." I say.

 

Ihra nods.
"Alright, I'll see if I can bring her back here." She says, starting to head out of the room.

 

"Goodbye." Claire says, looking at Ihra.

 

Ihra waves, though she looks at Claire with a bit of concern before heading out and making her own portal to Alice's house, closing shortly after.


About an hour later, Alice shows up at the gates of the palace in a long robe and white parasol in hand.
"Is it over?" She asks the nearest guard.

 

"What?" The guard asks.

 

"The whole mess with the mimics. I haven't seen the king since he stopped bleeding all over my porch."

 

"Yeah, it's over. What do you want?" The guard asks bluntly.

 

"Hell if I know. I was told that I'm supposed to go talk to the king. Something about being the new head of the agency? Guess he forgot I retired or something."

 

"Got any proof of that? You can't just walk up here and say the king just asked you to go see him." The guard says sternly, his hand hovering near to his blade.

 

"I mean, I just did. Would you relax, though? First Ihra gets chewed out, now me... just how bad did things get here?" Alice says, taking a step back and closing her parasol.

 

"You told me some fairy story that any weak Shadow could come up with. I want proof. Physical proof. If I let any Shadow that came up here saying the king just happened to invite them to the palace personally, I'd be a shit guard, to say the least." The guard says sternly, sounding like he's getting a little ticked off.

 

"We both know the king hasn't written a single letter on any piece of paper since he cleaned house. If you want to know who sent me, Ihra did. And if that's not enough, then I'll leave. Now, would you kindly distance your hand from that hilt?"


Ihra links to you.
"Hey, I forgot to warn Alice that the guards were kinda on edge, could you go make sure she doesn't get killed or anything?"

 

"Why don't you kindly distance yourself from my hilt before it goes through your heart, hm?" The guard asks, drawing his sword, "I suggest you come up with some evidence that isn't shit pouring from your mouth before I cut you down and throw your crystal back into the slums you crawled out from."


"Oh, sure thing." I say positively.

 

"Kill the reason that parasite didn't spread further, why don't you? Seems like you could use a heart more than me." She challenges, distorting the space between her and the guard.

 

"Tch, like you had anything to do with the parasites. Explain all the deaths if you really did anything, hm?" The guard asks, "Where were you when they were invading the city, ripping people apart and infecting families? Cowering like a motherless child I'd bet, weakling. Some of us stood and fought and actually gave our lives for the protection of our city, you know."

 

"I saved the king's life, and he saved mine. Besides, you wouldn't even know about the parasites if I hadn't told the king why I quit my job at the agency. Where was I when they were invading? Depends on what you define as me. Half of me is the king, and if you doubt my loyalty, then I'll see what I can do at half strength."

 

"And you really expect me to believe that tripe after everything else you've said? Wow, you're really trying to push your fake story, aren't you? Give up, you're never going to convince me of your utter bullshit." The guard says, grip tightening on his sword.

Alice can see me through the gates, skateboarding out of the palace doors toward them.

 

She stops and smiles.
"Oh dear, look who's coming to talk to us."

 

The guard doesn't turn around, his eyes locked on Alice.

I stop my skateboard on the other side of the gates, looking through the bars.

"Ahem." I say, getting the guard's attention.

"Your highness." The guard says, nodding.

"What's all this, then?" I ask.

"I was just dealing with this ignorant Shadow who said you personally invited her here, and that she was a major part of stopping the parasites. Utter bullshit, I'm sure you'll agree, if you can excuse my language your highness." The guard explains.

"Quite. Let her through, I want to have my own personal words with her so she doesn't bother us again." I say.

"With all due respect your highness, are you sure that's wise? She could mean harm to you." The guard says.

"That's an order." I say sternly.

The guard nods, pushing open the gates before grabbing Alice tightly and throwing her through them, deliberately making her fall and smirking afterwards.

"Come with me, girl." I say sternly, pretending to viscously pull Alice off the ground while actually being quite gentle, leading her toward the palace doors.

 

She scowls at you and the guard, but gives you a wink as she pretends to struggle.
