"It was below the dungeon, to make acessing food easier when the detective mimics would send people there." Eve says.

 

"Larger problems? What could possibly be worse then a global war?"

 

"How about a war that spreads across an entire reality?"

"I mean, they were fighting, but... something else came and tried to clean up. So... now they're fighting each other again."

"Disgusting... at least it's gone." Ihra sighs.

 

"So what is this place anyways?"

 

"Yeah, it's kind of jarring to think we were living over that thing for...I don't know how long." I say.

"I'm just glad all of us are safe." Artemis says, hugging me.

 

"I, uh... how about this. I see that dagger in your cloak, so... let's make a deal. You keep that dagger in its sheath, and I'll tell you what this place is and how to get out."

Ihra smiles.
"If you don't mind me asking, why did Alice have you reach out to me? Couldn't she just do it herself?"

 

"I don't think so." Artemis says.

"Shadows aren't naturally telepathic." I add.

 

"What is it? Are they fighting or not?"

 

I drop whatever I'm holding and listen closer.

"Excuse me? Have their been inter-reality wars I haven't been aware of?"

 

"Didn't Tenebrae let her keep her old abilities, though?"

Erevne smirks.
"For a moment, I thought you couldn't be more surprised than by the underground."
"This is no small world. For the better and the worst, everything is connected by more than mere winds." Reiglynn adds.
"If you want to know more, ask the prophet. She managed to escape from it in order to reach out to you."

"I don't know what I'm saying anymore, I haven't eaten in a while. Maybe ask the wyvern?" She says, though she looks more stressed than hungry.

 

"On it." He sighs before he leaves.

He heads towards the wyvern.
"Am I interupting you?"

 

"Yeah. Which...actually confuses things." I say, thinking.

Shadow Stephanie starts a quiet conversation with Katie.

 

His claws are glowing, but the moment you start talking, they fade.
"That isn't important. What's going on?"

"Maybe I should go check on her... Did she ever come and help you with the mimics?"

 

"Not much. I wanted to ask about the storm."

 

"No, only Shadow Stephanie did." I say.

"We went to stay with her when the mimics were uncovered, and she seemed fine before I left." Artemis says.

 

"I just talked to Rema about it. The Ziz was trying to keep something alive, and the Leviathan was trying to drown it. Once it finally died, the Ziz flew off and the storm eased up a bit... and now they're back fighting over it."

Ihra nods.
"It might be a bit soon for this, but... did you ever consider compensating her for bringing this to light?"

 

"I was going to give her the position of head detective." I say.

 

"She seems pretty happy with retirement, I don't know if she'll want to rebuild the agency." Ihra giggles. "I've never left her house without consuming tea."

 

"I guess I could just give her the salary of head detective or something." I shrug.

 

"I'll go ask her, or maybe get her to come here." Ihra says, heading towards the door. "Unless you need me for something here?"
