"I do" I shiver remembering the Sin saying I was her favourite
"The one we were fighting" I look at the boy trying to break the bars then back at the man "Said something in the lines of 'you are my favourite'. I don't even want to think about what she meant with that."
"I also recall she saying something about me breaking her Authority, maybe that has something to do with it as well?" I say, remembering the first time I spoke to that lunatic
"Now what about you? Who were you fighting against? For them to have locked you here with us the pers-" I stop myself mid sentence "The thing you were fighting must have done quite the mess"

 

"Good question, but I don't know."
He continues with what he is doing.
"I have my ideas, but I'd rather keep those for myself if you don't mind."

(Also, I rather not say to much, otherwise Amun can't keep up)

 

oh no please keep going. I haven't got much to interfere at this moment?

 

"No, it is somewhat more complicated than that. I am an alchemist by trade, but before that, I was a <Purifier>. For unknown reasons, I was born with an immunity to the miasma, and an ability to siphon it away. Because of this ability, I was called on to help repel the witch's invasion. However, following the use of this strange Authority, the knights arrested me, claiming that I had called the miasma."

 

"Well, I don't care what their reasons are. I know that we didn't do this, or atleast I didn't. And I---"

He continues breaking the bars.
"am not---"

He slams his shoulder into the bars.
"staying here any longer."

 

"You know the definition of isanity is trying the same thing over and over again expecting a different result."

 

I nod "I'm sorry, but I have to agree. It's not like they made these cells to break each time someone got sent here." I add to what the boy said.
"Also, what's the deal with these cells? Am I the only one that can't use magic?" I ask the middle age man, thinking in how we could get out.
"This isn't good, imagine if they attacked again and we were here, unable to help!" I imagine the bloodshed

 

Kayde looked down. "This attack was done when the Sword Saint was outside of town. However if he were to be called he'd have arrived in a few minutes. There has to be someone who was holding him back on his way. To think that there's someone in the Cult strong enough to even be able to buy time against the Sword Saint..." Kayde shuddered. The Current Sword Saint, Alexander van Hestiria, was most likely the strongest man alive on this world right now. One sword swing of a Sword Saint alone was said to have the power of a thousand swing. If there was someone in the Witch Cult who could match against such power, the situation couldn't be worse.

"But he should be returning soon, the Witch Cultists had retreated. If he is back in the Capital, we're safe for now." Kayde said.

There is no response; the walls seem to have cut all connections.

 

"I don't need them to break. I just need to find a way to hurt myself."
He slams his shoulder into the bars again.

"Like that."

 

Then I just look to see what's going on here

 

Marcus saw the arrow fly straight through the wall, falling onto an unseen floor with a clatter.

Slowly, the hunter put his hand through the wall. He entered a small tunnel— more accurately, a staircase that led down towards underground. Checking that the figures had moved further down, Marcus slowly crept down the dark corridor down underground.

There was not a single sound as he walked down. Nothing that his hunting-trained years could catch. Not even his own breath———

And again Marcus turned, realising that he had fallen into the enemy's trap again. If he couldn't even hear his own breath or movements, there was definitely a spell preventing sound from being heard. That meant—

Without realising he had arrived at a wider room. Ten figures appeared from the darkness, all wearing the same black cloaks.

 

"Dona!"
He tries to shout, aiming at the ground connecting the room and the staircase, as he hastily makes his way back up the stairs.

"Everyone, just stop!!" Kayde shouted, silencing all of the people inside the cells. The knight glared at Rathius.

"I get that you can turn into a dragon, and you had been hiding it all along. Fine. Comparing to this situation, that's nothing."

"That's......"

"But what good is turning into a dragon do in this situation? Worst scenraio, you die suffocating in this place. These walls completely prevent us from using any form of magic—— I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't made of stone bricks that could easily be broken."

Now all attention was on Kayde. Feeling a little uncomfortable, he sat back onto his bed.

"Let's talk. My name is Kayde Ferris, Royal Guard assigned to the south-western section of the Capital. This morning, I encountered a member of this so-called organization 'Witch's Order' who named herself Bellatrix Asmodeus Barialle, a 'Sin' representing «Lust». I think she can explain that monster better than me."

Kayde turned to Angela in her cell, then looked around. "There's no point thinking of how to get out, it's not like we'll be stuck here forever. A good use of this time when all of us are here is to share information."

 

Rathius calms down. Knowing nothing will work, he leans against the wall and starts talking.

"The name is Rathius Tinzel. Just like Kayde, I'm a Royal Guard. Today I encountered a boy named Rigel Belphegor Barielle, also known as the Sin《Sloth》and later his sister Bellatrix Asmodeus Barialle or《Lust》."

He looks at the other few. "And what about you?

 

Archibaud is trying to hide that he is anoyed by this situation in general and replies

''My names Archibaud. I'm the scythe of the castle. During the meeting of the kings candidates we were interupted by a man named Rikuld Mammon Kavenheitos or 《Greed》 as he called himself''

 

(Do we still have our armor on? Also have our wounds been healed as well?)

"As the knight Kayde already said, I encountered the Sin 《Lust》, who named herself Bellatrix Asmodeus Barialle. I am Angela Serafina, from the Belstain Hou-" Putting my hand on my cheek I correct myself "Ex member of the Belstain House."
"I encountered a crowd surrounding a fist fight, but when I went to stop the fight, the Sin messed with my mind" I make vague gestures with my hands on my head "And I jumped into the fight. Then I met the Sin and we had some disagreements of sorts. After that you know what happened." I point towards the knight

 

Marcus's way is immediately blocked by a silent figure holding a knife. The figure swung the knife aimlessly at Marcus, who leaped back. He drew his swords and swung it around— only hear it clash against a hard object.

A larger figure with a one-handed shield had blocked both swords with ease. His fist came flying from the other side of the body, catching the hunter in the chest.

"Guaah!?" Marcus was sent rolling down the floor and into a wall. Next to the large man, another figure appeared.

"El Shamak!" The feminine voice chanted— and Marcus's vision went black.

When Marcus opened his eyes, he was being dragged down a dark stone corridor by the large man from before. He grunted and pulled his arm, but the man's grip did not budge. He realised that his ankles had been chained together, making him unable to stand. The other cloaked figures were also following along.

He tried to speak up, but only a raspy croak came out. He had been hit in the head pretty hard. His consciousness fading and wondering, he let himself be dragged to whatever destination.

And——

"Well, well, well. Who do we have here?" A voice spoke up, and Marcus realised that the group had stopped.

In front of Marcus was a large man— not in a bulky, but in an obese way. He had balding blonde hair and dark green eyes; and wore an expression of bad intent and malice as he saw Marcus. His clothing was such one a rich person wore; he gave an impression of a very corrupted noble. Perhaps that was exactly what he was.

Kayde nodded. "Me and a few other knights joined the fight soon after. But then Bellatrix used her 'Authority' — an ability to share wounds. Instantly all of us were incapacitated."

Kayde sighed. "What I don't understand is these 'Authorities'. So is it safe to assume all Sins have special powers like «Lust»'s wound sharing?"

 

"You were already blacked out" I start to explain to him "But that boy that called himself Sloth said something in the lines of 'Authority : Reset' . It was after that that we were accused of treason"

 

Without speaking, Marcus bites his thumb at the man.

 

"I'm James. I guess you can call me an investigator of sorts. The past few hours are sorta just a blur for me."
