is Undertale... a story about a tail... that's under something

 

It's about a genderless human that fell down the Underground, and the Underground is full of monsters that want to kill you for your human SOUL. You get to choose if you want to kill the monsters or spare them.

basically there is three endings/routes, neutral, pacifist, and genocide
neutral is when you spare atleast one and kill atleast one monster
pacifist is when you spare (not kill) anybody
genocide is when you kill everybody (and the wild encounters and you'll have to keep running around in circles in areas to make sure there is nobody left)

It also has intriguing characters, such as my bae Alphys, a narcissist skeleton named Papyrus, a strong fish lady named Undyne, and an overprotective goat mother named Toriel.

 

It also has a cancer fanbase thats somehow worse than minecrafts, im not sure if it hits rick and morty or FNAF levels yet

 

Except the fan base has nothing to do with the game itself, and I've seen worse fanbases, such as Steven Universe
