Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Hiuh" She utters, not bothering to take her tongue out of the cup.

Spring winds up batting Katie in the face with a tea packet.
"Hey, look, she has seaweed things!"

 

"Those are teabags. You put them in hot water and they make tea!" Katie explains happily, "Though I'm used to making iced tea. Abigail always used to heat up my water to make the tea..."

 

“Number One on our corpse count.”
I use the side of my hammer to shuffle the corpse to the side of the hallway.
“She looked worse last time I saw her.”

 

"Yeah, we would need to make a run for it. And I'm NOT risking that."

 

"Did you know her?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

 

"But it's seaweed tea!"

"Glad we're on the same page."

 

"Huh?" Katie asks, looking at the teabag more closely.

 

There seem to be bits of dried seaweed with some salt on them, among bits of what look like split berry seeds.

 

"Well, we are the same mind after all. But, I can't dig those tunnels the way that dragon does."

 

“Barely. From the times I heard her talk, I inferred she had a stick up her ass. Jack shared the same inference.”
I stare at the body for a bit.
“Funny to think she almost got out.”

 

"Whoa, I've never seen these before!" Katie says, surprised.

Aqui looks at the teabag too.

"They look expensive." Aqui comments.

"Oh yeah, you were part of a group of robots right? Then one of them decided to go on a murder spree?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

 

Which is why we're sticking with him. Also because the centaur.

"Okay, mister centaur, get moving." The dragon says. "Don't want to get caught in an avalanche."

"I can tell you it isn't store-bought." Alice comments from the kitchen.

 

"Can we have some of it?" Katie asks.

"Do you have any hot chocolate, Alice?" Artemis also calls.

 

“Correct. Let’s keep moving.”
I look down the hallways, then head to the right.

 

"Yeah. If you like it, give Ali a ring. Girl's one damn fine artist with food. As for hot chocolate, I'll look, but I doubt it. Pretty sure all I have is tea, but I have a few kinds that have cocoa in them."

 

Shadow Stephanie follows, looking for any more corpses or possibly a robot.

"That's fine!" Artemis calls after a pause.

 

"Ooh, are you resistant to toxic berries, Artemis?" Alice asks, Spring returning without a tea bag as she rests on Katie's shoulder.

 

Mainly all she sees are doors, broken lights, and dust. I go past all the doors, though. Eventually we come across another corpse. This one’s laying on its side, knees almost up to its chest. The remaining flesh on this one is burned.
“Two. Candace. She was nice.”
I pass the corpse.

 

"Yes, like all forest guardians, I'm immune to poisons, toxins, acids and the like." Artemis says.

Shadow Stephanie pokes the corpse, before taking off a bit of flesh and sniffing it.

 

"Great, gives me an excuse to make my favorite kind of tea." She says, slightly drowned out by the sound of pouring liquids.
