Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I just continue following.

 

"Oh, that's just a zealous lie."

"It's pretty nice. I haven't had much time to work, though, between trying to get my life back to just being me."

"Yeah, haven't eaten in a while."

 

Shadow Stephanie teleports you and herself to a room filled with mage crystals, smaller crystals nearer the elevator while huge pillar-like crystals reside nearer the back. All of the crystals shimmer with different colours, Stephanie walking into the room and starts looking through them; occasionally desummoning one or throwing it aside.

"Is there anything you want or need? Apart from an actual body." I ask.

 

"Not right now, at least not that I can think of."

 

"Don't take to long, please. I don't plan on staying much longer inside this tunnel."

 

"Well, if you need some tools or a bit of money to help you out, don't be afraid to ask." I say happily.

 

I spend time observing the crystals, making sure not to touch any.

 

...yeah sure.

 

They seem to all be charged with different types of magic, the larger the crystal the more potent the magic. Some crystals even hold multiple types of magic, their colours brighter and swirling. Off to the side, you notice what seems to be a set of armour, a sword and a shield all made out of mage crystal. It looks rather old and damaged, however.

 

I look at the equipment for a few seconds before turning my attention back to Shadow Stephanie.

 

Shadow Stephanie seems to be glancing at you as she sorts through a few crystals.

"Interested in that old armour?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

 

“Yeah. Looks interesting. Does it have a story behind it?”

 

"It does. It's one of the few remaining sets of armour of it's kind. They were originally created as a way to forward fighting, combining the magial power of a mage with the trained strength of a warrior. The idea was that the armour could be easily used for spells to protect the wearer, heal them and others near to them, and essentially be used as a catalyst for other spells too. A group of kingdoms run by humans created them when they were at war with another group of kingdoms. However, when the war actually happened, they found that the armour and weapory backfired on them. Mages on the other side could also use the crystals against them, turning them to water to leave the wearers vulnerable, freezing them in place or turning it to acid and lava to kill the wearer. The swords could even be hexed to attack the allies of the wielder. Needless to say, the side that didn't use the armour won. Very few sets of full mage crystal armour and weaponry still exist, due to how many were destroyed in the war," Shadow Stephanie explains, "It's a unique piece of human history, and it's a good lesson in what happens when you try to get greedy."

 

“Greedy? I’d more associate it with something else... like a kingdom making gernades that explode an entire minute after you pull the pin. It’s just not very smart.”

 

"Thanks, but I really have enough. Vexa isn't used to dealing in weapons that can cut through an earth guardian shield like paper."

Pick one. Do you want to go spinning, or try and avoid spinning metal parts?

"Yeah, yeah. I'm working on it." He says, biting the bone in half.

 

"True, but it was their greed for power and advancement that caused them to be that stupid. At the scale the armour is at, it's sort of in a protective dip where it's powerful enough to be turned against you, but not strong enough to hold an enchantment to prevent it from being turned against you." Shadow Stephanie says.

"Yeah, you're probably upsetting the balance a bit there." I say.

 

“Fair enough. Why’s it in here, then?”

 

He chuckles and watches the dragon dig.

 

"I've only made one of those here so far. It's sort of weird how nobody's heard of a solar forge."

He finishes chewing on the bone before heading uphill, the ground a bit slick even with claws.

 

He tries to follow, but slip away every so often.
"Hey, this might just be me but.. but doesn't this seem like the strangest tunnel, like ever?"
