Driver: "I'm literally in your group. I got here the same time as you."

You don't find anything, but when you turn back, there are a few bottles of liquor and a new table in between the two chairs.

"Oh, the fog coast is horrible. It's ridiculously humid but it always just builds up and gives the place its name. The islands south of there are wonderful, however."

 

Dez:"Oh I thought all of you were locals to this city"

 

Eradius: "Now we're talking!"
I pour myself a glass and offer one to Serena.

 

"Hmmm, I've never heard of islands south of the coast. Mostly because people who go in never seem to come out. Perhaps I'll go down and see what's there as well."

 

Driver: "No, no. We're from the capital up north. We actually used a weird door thing in the tower back there to get here, and bypassed this area entirely."

Serena: "For a dream, it's actually terribly difficult to manipulate."

"True, true. So, about this treasure hunting. What kind of things are you looking for?"

 

Dez:"Ok then, then I'll leave you be"
I go sit back down and wait for us to have a artived somewhere and if that doesn't happen within 10 minutes I fall asleep

 

"There's all sorts of things you can find in these elven ruins. Gold, jewels, weapons, all of that. But the main prize is a set of elvish rings. These rings are the key to our survival as a race."

 

Eradius: "I'll take that as a no; well, suit yourself."
I throw my glass into the fireplace and drink straight from the bottle.

 

You're soon predictably stuck in evening traffic. One guy is beginning to moan about having to be the one to wake everyone else up as you fall asleep.

"Wait the elves are - Huh. I never really paid attention to the problems low fertility and constant war would bring up, so I guess it makes sense."

You down it and don't feel anything at all, seeing as it's fake dream wine and cannot actually affect you. Maybe the placebo effect could have helped, but the fact you thought of that means you've just outsmarted yourself.

 

I'll continue until I get there.

 

Does this mean I can change my skills now?

 

"Exactly. These rings we're getting are for one of the elven elders. If we can secure them, she can use them to get fertility up. I'm not sure if it'll work, but it's the best shot we got."

 

Eradius: "IT DOESN'T WORK!!?"
I throw to bottle into the fireplace along with other bottles.
Eradius: "IF I CAN'T GET DRUNK, THEN I'LL BE FORCED TO REMEMBER. I DON'T WANT TO REMEMBER."
Eradius grabs the armchair and tosses it into the wall. Panting Eradius looks at Serena.
Eradius: "YOU BITCH. YOU OFFERED ME THAT ALCOHOL KNOWING FULL WELL I CAN'T GET DRUNK OFF OF IT! YOU WANT ME TO SUFFER DON'T YOU!!" Eradius points a finger at Serena while yelling this.
Eradius: "GODDAMMIT!" Eradius takes the table and tosses it behind Serena.
Eradius: "I'M GONNA RIP OUT YOUR EARS AND MAKE YOU CHOKE On them..."
Eradius falls to the floor exhausted. (how did he got exhausted in a dream? he forgot he's dreaming.)

 

So... uhh... yesterday.
You know those terrible nights where you just wake up in your desk chair, don't remember anything that happened last night, and assume you finished what you had to do? Eugh.....

The sun is disappearing under the horizon on the other side of the valley when you reach the massive wall. You can see on the other side of the river what looks to be a road going through a massive, almost unnatural gash in the mountains. The actual wall itself is roughly 40 ft/13 m tall, and several large gates are currently admitting people inside the city. The wall itself is made of deeply set stone, old yet maintained, and you can even still see maintenance going on in some places. Looking at the dozen or so gates leading into the city, you choose the shortest-looking one and eventually reach the front. A man with a notepad looks at you, and then simply speaks aloud.

Bookkeeper: "Your name?"

Your sleep is interrupted for a small bit by the sensation of being moved up and into a bed, but yes, you're asleep.

"That does sound like an extremely noble cause. Guess it's down to the wire for your race, then."

Somehow, the exhaustion in a dream wakes you up.
Well, it was either that, or Serena throwing a dream-knife at you to shut you up.
When you come to, you're still in the cart, in front of some decently high-class inn of some kind, and a bunch of sleeping people are literally being carried in and upstairs. The sun is still setting but is nearly gone, and you see the moon against a brilliant backdrop of stars.

I explore the area.

 

"It is a very dire situation, yes. I hope we can find some way to save us all before time sweeps us away."

 

You're in front of some high-class inn. The slope of the city gently curves down from where you are, so you can see nearly all of it from your position, roughly in the center. The buildings around here, despite their size, are squeezed together incredibly tightly. Facing you almost directly on the other side of the street is what appears to be a temple, closed for the evening. At the end of the block that the inn is on lies a 3-floor tavern, with signs advertising prices and such.
The rest of the street is mainly filled with trade buildings, with many bearing the logos of shipping companies. There's also a bakery, still open.

"Yes, I see. So, one last question: Are you working for these elven elders, or are you planning to sell the rings to them for a hefty price? I can't imagine there's much they wouldn't part with for an artifact like that."

 

I go inside the bakery.
