Actually their about equal. Command blocks are just lazier redstone. (The only thing command blocks can really do that redstone can't is make entities. But redstone can still make a computer that works so ha!)

redstone does not exactly suck in my opinion, it's just less applicable than command blocks. Saying redstone sucks is literally just a voice of opinion.

I'm sorry but i don't think I'd be proud of my work if I used a command block for anything other than custom items, mobs, and the like. Besides, redstone is easier to get. Why waste my time screwing up the same command several times to get a command block when I can just go into my creative inventory and use redstone.

Besides Command Blocks are quite simple to learn the basics....
There are some rare cases where I suppose redstone would be used but meh
