Relics, Where'd They Go

So i was just wondering why relics were removed. wondering if its permanent or if its for a rework

 

they went to fruma and got eaten by that monster thing

 

gone maybe forever we don't know... yet

They were removed in the DND update because they conflicted with discoveries.

 

Which makes no sense whatsoever.

 

That’s what I figured. They didn’t fit into the lore, and the items weren’t that good either. You could get more powders by opening up a few loot chests than opening relics.

Sealed letters?

Large portion of the Bob lore?

Literally the only reason we know who Nilrem is?

1) We didn’t know who built the relics or why they did
2) The Sealed Letters and Nilrem was just another tidbit of lore that was probably forgotten or scrapped like many others things like the Graveyard of 100 years and Gale and Ohms, which
3) The information that the Sealed Letters do give is essentially inconsequential in the game. Ok, we know there’s someone named Nilrem, who is he? He’s never mentioned again. Besides not influencing any events in quests or the player not even meeting Nilrem, they are pretty vague. Sure it mentions the true reason for Bob’s disappearance, but it could not be more unspecific about what Bob actually did and what he did it to.

My point is, the Sealed Letters didn’t really add anything to the game and I’d rather have the lore properly told in-game via discoveries.

It’s the ONLY source for the true reason for Bob’s dissapearence, whichbis nessessary for a lot of Dern and Eye theories to make sense

 

Ok, Nilrem is technically mentioned again, but he doesn’t have anything to do with the player. There isn’t isn’t much there to make him significant beyond the fact that he’s related to Bob.

For Gale and Ohms, it’s not technically confirmed, but at this point it wouldn’t make a difference.

Ah, Dern and the Eye. I think we can all agree that there isn’t enough information to confirm really anything about Dern or the Eye or whatever except for that it’s black and is probably what is concealed on the map. Again, while it is the only source about Bob’s disappearance, it has nothing to stand on or has any impact in any quests like Dern/Eye theories. The game is still transitioning from loosely related fetch quests to actual story based quests. I wouldn’t make any assumptiond about Dern or what the Sealed Letters mean at this point. If they don’t change the lore of the Sealed Letters, I’d rather have them presented in another way.

 

Exactly. He’s mentioned again, but that does not make him important. The only reason why we know he’s important is because of the sealed letters. He’s still a figure in the game, but now the information on why we care is gone.

Umm... what? Does not make a difference? It makes a huge difference! They are parts of the Qira lore, and also would be a human in Gavel or villager in Wynn before the timeline supposed to allow it, adding more lore! Don’t say it does not make a difference.

And there may not be enough stuff to confirm theories, but there’s enough stuff to make good theories. You said it yourself, it’s the only thing telling us the truth about Bob’s dissapearence, which is kind of important since he’s a major NPC in the game. Without the Bob stuff and Dern stuff from the sealed letters, the info quests give us can’t really be tied together, while with the info it doesn’t.

 

What I’m trying to say is that yes, while this lore is interesting, it’s so bare bones that nothing is built upon it besides a few references.

What I meant by not making a difference, I meant that I wouldn’t hold your breath for the Easter Egg to be completed. It’s been a few years and it’s not Selvut’s first priority. Again, Gale and Ohms do seem interesting, but since there is nothing besides a few items and Gale’s grave and Gale as a boss, it doesn’t add that much to the game.

These tid bits of lore have a lot of potential, but by themselves that don’t really add anything to the game besides more uses for “Soon^TM.” Since the CT is revamping the lore and doing it properly through discoveries, I’d rather have discoveries do a better job at telling the lore.

although the Sealed Letters could have been presented in a better way rather than "random chance when u open a relic which as far as we know has absolutely no relevance towards Bob or Dern or anything"
They are still important, think about it, if the Sealed Letters never existed, our best theory for how Bob died would be either Nesaak Wolves, CoW or maaaaybe the Light Beast or whatever the boss of the SoonTM Dungeon in the Light Realm is called.
Sealed Letters allowed us to theorize about the Eye, Dern, all that shiz, it let us know who Nilrem is, who I am assuming will be a fairly important NPC once the Lore is fleshed out.

I believe the Light Dungeon Boss’s name is Orphion. I see what you’re saying. I guess we will have to wait until the Road to Dern Update is out.

Btw, I believe Orphion has nothing to do with Bob.

 

Light/Dark all that, without the Sealed letters we wouldn't even know Bob went to Dern.

 

True. I just hope the lore isn’t like Gavel’s or RoL’s lore.
