So I have this weapon for my warrior class...

Why does it have +1 Attack Speed?
Why don't they just make it a Super Fast Attack Speed?
Am I just really stupid or something?

 

If they made it super fast, that would mean the spells would be on the same power level as the melee dps, which I'm guessing was not the intention with this weapon.

Nah, in the API it show only base 1 attack speed so it will stay +1 no matter how good your roll is.
But the point is, Darude - Sandstorm was probably meant to be a melee weapon with good melee DPS.

Is actually not, base attack speed affects the spell damage, the faster the attack speed the greater the spell multiplier. However, +1 attack speed on stats doesn't affect the spell multiplier. I suppose they are too lazy to lower the damage and increase the attack speed.

 

From the other posts in this thread I would say it might be that this is supposed to be a melee weapon, so the spells are weaker. Idk tho.

 

Correcting the attack speed and the base value.... I don't think it is that complicated

 

For postive IDs the rolls would range from 30% to 130% of the base so if it rolled 30%-49% the weapon wouldn't have the attack speed buff (technically it rolls down to +0 attack speed).

And imo, slower attack speed generally means better (except the part it's harder to cast spells). You're more likely to do damage to your enemies penetrating their elemental defense with lower attack speed on the same level (same damage balance), therefore weapons with positive attack speed bonus means stronger for mobs with elem. def, and still keeps the higher attack speed.
