Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I smile, making my way to the training room.

 

Crystal's up in the armory, the rest of the room evacuated and all other facilities deactivated.

 

"Why should I be tired? You're the one digging."

 

"I dunno, I didn't think you ate recently, else you'd be hunting. Then again, you're a bit different."

 

"Crystal."
I say, heading up into the armory.
"Hm?"
"They need you out of here. Everybody's supposed to be."
"Oh. Is that why everything's turned off?"
"Yeah. They're putting in a new facility. And I'd imagine if they want us out of here for it, we should really get out."
"All right. I was just checking out some weapons."
"Okay. Come on now."
I lead out of the armory and the training room, Crystal hesitating, then following.

 

"I should eat some, yes. Just need to remind myself to do it later."

 

"She will once this goes through." Shadow Stephanie says.


Vexa just stays quiet, not sure what to say.


"Yes, it's been nice staying here." Jennifer says appreciatively.

"We've found some of the guys to be rather accommodative despite the commotion too." Maria says, sharing a giggle with Jennifer.

 

"It seems a bit ridiculous that you need all this paperwork to compensate someone."


Ruby lets the room fall silent.
"Well... I'm going to take a fly around town. I'll be back by sunup."


"Ah, good. Well... in just a few minutes, I'd like you to take a look at your new venue."

"I'll... try, I guess. I might need to take a detour to eat in an hour. Maybe we could both stop then?"

A few guards are waiting by the entry, closing the doors as Crystal leaves.

There seems to be a bit of a crowd gathering.

 

"Royal approval." Shadow Stephanie shrugs.


"Alright, stay safe!" Vexa says.


"Is this for our new colosseum announcement job?" Jennifer asks.

"Will we get the same protection Mortius gave to us in our old job?" Maria asks.

 

"Sure. Depends on what's on the menu."

 

"What's going on here, anyways?"
Crystal asks as we're near the crowd.
"Don't know. You can stick around to find out."
"You won't be?"
"I've got some stuff to do."
"Like what?"
"Xlentia's armor chipped, I ought to report to the Shadows to get it repainted."
"Okay! See you soon."
Crystal waves me off and sticks around the crowd, as I go off towards the library again.

 

"Still... that's a lot of papers."


"Thanks!" Ruby says, waving and heading out, flying up and giving the town an overhead look.


"Yes, it is. As for your old protection... why don't you tell me what Mortius gave you? I was thinking functional immortality while commentating, but I can bump it up to accommodate."

"Well... anything left buried in the snow. I can't stand the smell of fresh corpses, so I scavenge."

Crystal's pushed to the side a bit as a path clears.
"Sorry, we're clearing a way for the first commentators."

 

He allows himself to be pushed.
"Commentators? Who'sat?"

 

"Two succubi who have some experience commentating in the arena of a death god. They should be due here any minute."

 

"Oh, not all of them are for the approval. I have some other things to sort out." Shadow Stephanie says.


The town darkens with the night, lights from windows showing where homes are while few roam the streets.


"He gave us a protective box so people couldn't throw weapons and stuff at us, and a guard by the door so we'd be protected if anyone broke in." Maria says.

"And healthcare should we get any diseases." Jennifer adds.

 

"Ooh!"
Crystal continuously looks around, alert.

 

"How many of them are just for royal approval?"


Ruby flies over the town a bit, looking at those out for a midnight stroll.


"Done, and I'll send you to Gaia if you fall ill. Why don't you head to the training room? The Chronoseum can't open without someone to wire up the crowds."

 

He nods.
"Mhm. Sounds good."

 

The parted path remains empty.
"Any minute now, we just got word Mistress Xlentia is sending them this way."

"You eat bones, or nah?" They ask, the ground levelling out.

 

Crystal doesn't respond, now looking towards Xlentia's chambers.
