Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

She winds up dozing off again.


"Throne room, game room, or robotics lab?"

 

"Graveyard." The guard says.

 

Ihra pauses before nodding.
"Right, he sent an army this time."
She takes off towards the graveyard.

 

The graveyard is a bit of a distance away, and the presence of a setting sun and rising moon doesn't help the atmosphere.

 

Ihra ignores it, looking for you.


"H-hey, boss? Sorry I took so long..." Ruby calls, back at the smithy.

 

“I can get them. What happened to your armor?”

 

"Oh, right, you missed a whole thing where some dumb shadow monster tried to be me. It died."

 

Ihra soon sees me sitting on a gravestone, chatting to a familiar looking small girl, dressed in mostly dark clothing.


"It's to see you're back safe and sound!" Vexa calls back, coming out to the front, smiling.

 

Ihra taps her staff, landing.
"Hey, is now a bad time?"


Ruby's levitating, looking a bit distraught.
"Well... not really." She sighs. "Good news, I got all of my soul back, so I'm just me again. Bad news, my body was desecrated, so I'm back in my shell body. Please don't touch me, I'd rather not disintegrate."

 

"Hm? Oh, not really." I say.

The young girl glances at Ihra with almost glass like eyes, her pupils appearing to not even be present. She seems to be holding a softly beating heart in her hands.


"Your shell body?" Vexa asks, confused.

 

"Who's she?... Regardless, I was hoping you could tell me why keeping the servants alive is a bad idea."


"So, I won't have to worry about my staff, but if I touch the ground, then... I sort of fall apart. This was the body I was in while mind controlled." Ruby sighs. "But, on the bright side, I can actually smith weapons like I used to."

 

Waking up from the sleep, I shudder at that dream

"Why is it always that one..."

 

"She's the girl a rescued from that mansion," I say, "And keeping the servants alive is a bad idea because you don't know what they know. They could have knowledge of the research done at the mansion, and could reinstate it given the chance."

The girl gets up and walks closer to Ihra, touching her almost blindly.

"The spirits like you. You have done many good things." The girl says quietly.


"Is there any way for you to get a new body?" Vexa asks.

 

Nobody's around to comment on you talking to yourself, fortunately. It's a bit strange not seeing the light coming in from the window... but then you remember you're still underground.

"Which is why I'm keeping them in one room and making sure they don't leave."

Ihra seems a bit offput, but looks into her glassy eyes.
"...What were they doing to her?"


"That's in the works. For now, I get to try not to explode or touch the ground."

 

“Well, that’s good. That it’s dead, I mean. I’ll get the Shadows, then?”

 

"Yeah, thanks." She says, closing her eyes.

 

It feels like Ihra's staring into a reflection of her own soul. The heart in the girl's hand starts to beat a little faster.

"I'm not sure, apparently she was a key figure in whatever plans and research were being made there though." I say.

The girl hugs Ihra suddenly.


"Can you touch anything else? Like a bed?" Vexa asks.

 

Ihra hesitates before hugging her back.


"Only on pure fabric sheets, no synthetics. Usually I just levitate, since I'll explode if I let too much magic build up."

 

"You have saved many, the spirits are thankful," The girl whispers, "Your destiny can be great, but it is uncertain."


"Well, I'll try and make a few adjustments around the place to better suit your needs." Vexa says, smiling.

 

I walk out, heading towards the library.
