Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Cause I need a place to rest ofcourse."

 

Shadow Stephanie keeps running, as fast as the mech suit allows without overheating it.


It takes a short while, but The Matriarch eventually finds it; any splotches of paint that fall onto the book simply sliding off like water.

 

"Yeah, no, you don't need to go off and die!"

At this rate, she'll be bringing ten mechs in unannounced into the flanks of a defense that's only strong on the front.


She inputs the combination and hopes there isn't a crowd waiting for her as she steps out.

 

Shadow Stephanie things for a bit, before throwing her half-charged explosive mage crystal out of her mech as far as she can, the crystal exploding into lots of chunks that clink around the ground.


There isn't a large crowd waiting, though a few people seem to be beginning to form one, looking at The Matriach.

 

"Oh come on. I've met different kinds of dragons before. I'll be fine."

 

This slows down two mechs, the other eight still on her tail.


She hesitates.
"Uhm... hi, everyone..." She says, nervous as she steps out of the elevator.

"These aren't the civil beasts like those on the island. E-every dragon here will kill on sight..."

 

"We'll see about that. See ya."
He heads into the cave.

 

“Yeah, that woman.”

 

Shadow Stephanie checks the mech for anything that could create loud sound.


The crowd smiles at The Matriarch, though people seem to be hanging back as to not overwhelm her.

 

Cole watches you, nervous as you disappear into the cave.

The cave feels warm, out of the wind.

"Maybe he's on to something... maybe each dragon is super territorial, and that's why the dragoness won't leave."

"Did she get murdered too?"

Emergency flares might do the trick.


She looks around for a guard, nervous as she opts to hold up her new painting for the crowd to see.
The painting is of a wolf pouncing on an unsuspecting rabbit.

 

Shadow Stephanie fires the emergency flares at the defense as soon as she sees them, trying to draw their attention to her and the mechs chasing.


A few guards seem to be standing by, watching the crowd.

The crowd seems surprised and enamoured by the painting, a few people applauding.

 

They seem startled, and she attracts the attention of pretty much everything, including Victus, Aqui, Tirra, and Aeris.


She turns to one of the guards.
"Can one of you hang this up with the rest of my paintings, please?"

 

I take a look at the harpy family on the bedside table

 

The elites seem to know what to do, Aeris and Aqui helping Tirra into the air who creates giant stone wall in front of the mechs chasing Shadow Stephanie, before Aqui encases it in ice and creates icy archers atop it, firing arrows of water.


"Certainly." The guard says, carefully taking the painting and heading off with it, holding it delicately.

 

"Well, she explained she didn't want to leave because of her babies. If I had children myself, I would protect them too."
He walks into the cave, searching for Anne and the wyvern.

 

“Yeah. I didn’t tell you about it due to the fact that someone might’ve tried to sell her out if we put most of the blame on her and feigned her escape.”

 

It seems to be the late king, Erevne, and two children. Each parent is standing next to one kid, with an unhatched egg in the middle.

"If someone tried to sell her out, wouldn't they be an accomplice?"

They're in the main part of the cave.
"Wind get under your fur?" Anne asks.

The mechs punch through the wall, but that leaves them open to taking fire. If the water arrows don't short them, railguns do.
"Any more on your tail?" The reforming mech asks.


"Thank you." The Matriarch nods, looking out at the crowd.
"Uhm... by chance do any of you have sketchbooks you'd like me to sign?"

 

"I don't know, but they're going to be coming back at a third of the speed. That being said, I'm going to need all the help I can get to take out their last portal." Shadow Stephanie says.

What remains of the wall turns and smashes together, crunching the mechs as they punch through. Thick vines wind around the mech's feet, trying to immobilize them as a large orb of water jiggles over above them, looming.


Quite a few people push to the front of the now much larger crowd, all holding out sketchbooks.

 

The last two get caught in the aftermath.
"What portal?"
"Heh, cutting off their supply line? We'll worry about that once we get rid of what they have here."


She seems nervous, taking one sketchbook at a time and signing it with a single-bristled brush. (that she dips in the paint left on her armblades)

 

"Better to cut off their supplies now so it's easier to gain the advantage on the killing to backup ratio." Shadow Stephanie says.


Every fan seems overjoyed when they get their sketchbook signed, those without crowding around those with to look at it.
