SPOILER Dernic Takeover Theory??? (and More)

So i was doing A Grave Mistake, the quest behind the Twain Mansion and many people think is in or connected to Dern. So i was doing the quest and when Mael shows us the past of the mansion i notice that the Dern biome isn't there and that the area was once plains and the montains were topped with snow just like everyother mountain range in wynn. But after he died, the biome is now The End, the mountains lose their snow for black gray and brown spikes. This can mean a lot of things including a possibility for a Dernic Ice Barrows because it's proximity to Dern compared to the other dungeons and if Dern and The Corruption meet.

Many theorize that Dern is connected to Darkness with the likes of Shadow Adamel referencing Dern with Endermen and Shadows. If so is Dern connected to Dark Magic? And if so the only people refernces to use Dark Magic (the ones i can remember at least) were Mael and Slykaar and these 2 reference Dern a bit. For Mael there is the fact of the Mansion surrounded by Dern but it's also been said the the Twain brothers hid the crystals Wynn Excavation are hunting for and chances are that Mael hid the purple crystal which is both near the mansion and is very odd compared to the rest of the crystals. The cave you get it in is Black, Gray and later on Purple which are pretty much the colors of Dern. And in Wynn Excavation D, the purple area is the only one with a broken Watcher and is destroyed with the Shadow monsters being able to get on the platform. And for Slykaar, in Corrupted Betrayal, You find a way to get into the Overgrowth Ruins. The first cave you go in contains 2 NPCs idk most people may not notice. The first NPC is Chest of Vials and the second are notes. The Chest of Vials are described to contain Vials of Mob DNA but the last Vial starts with D but nothing else is visable. The notes describes Slykaar's efforts to create strong soldiers. Normal mobs don't work at all. Corrupted Mobs worked better. But he finds something stronger than Corrupted mobs, something darker...
And when you enter Slykaar's Dimension, you can look around and see the colors of Dern: Black, Gray, and Purple.

Ok multiple things i need to say here

Dern literally means darkness. So not just dark magic. It's basically moved past the theory stage.

Just wanna say Mael never used dark magic, he just had an inherent talent of returning the souls of the dead. Slykaar is more along the lines of proper "dark magic"; sacrifices and such. Twain mansion went to shit once Mael died because all the souls congregated there.

This has not been said.
Dernic refugees from the Ancient race(their city is in wynn site d) hid the crystals. The Twains have NOTHING to do with the crystals.

And i dont think the purple crystal has any more to do with dern than the others. As said before, the cave colors are generic cave colors, with purple being the crystal.

Id also like to point out that dark magic generally involves dark rituals(at least in wynn), more involved with evil than just things that look evil. Shamans like Slykaar use sacrifices, it is said in the quest that this is considered dark magic. And slykaar never found mobs more powerful than corrupted ones, he just found the new dimension(which is basically confirmed dern; i mean, a dark god). We already know slykaar is a dark magic user

Hi i'm new to this replying stuff but no, The crystals are connect to the Twains. Traitor Adamel in WynnExcavation C stated that 4 individuals who lived in the mansion hid the power and that sounds a lot like the Twains right?

 

In WynnExcavation site D the magic voice says that the ancients placed the power in four crystals. Maybe I'm confusing that with "hiding them", although I'm unsure how they could've lugged the crystal to the volcano islands. Also, i dont think they had anything to do with the green crystal cuz that was in the ancient city, and they created the crystals. I can see the other two though

Anyway, the post is... interesting. I've noticed the Dern stuff on top of the Twain Graveyard borders, but I didn't know that it was different in the past (I.e. In game past, not irl past). From what I've read on here (not done the new quests yet) the 'realm' in Corrupted Betrayal is just that, nothing to do with Dern. Any of this could well be wrong, I haven't played since a few months before 1.17.

Uh... no, we don't know that. The 'Road to Dern' is only the name given to the upcoming Dern update, it's not necessarily an actual place. And I'm pretty sure a lot of people have said that the CB realm isn't Dern, and anyway, Dern is not a 'realm' - it's a province. It has close ties to, and probably a portal to, the Realm of Darkness (or Shadow), but it is a physical place which doesn't need magic to get to (although there probably ways to get into Dern using Magic).

Many people believe that Dern is Realm. Many people believe that Dern is a Province. But i think Dern is a PROVINCE in the REALM, and Road To Dern has a portal to that realm with Dern.

P.S Its just my opinion.

Dern is full of surprises, so it CAN be a Province in Realm. BTW why not to wait for Grian's Road To Dern Livestream instead of continue this useless controversy?

 

Oh oh, THIS debate again. When this debate started, I was on the wrong side of it, so now it triggers me.

Dern, in all theory and evidence, seems to be a province. When it was first found, it was stated that the miners found a new dark land, not a portal to said land. And as we see from the Nether, miners very obviously know what a portal is, so it’s not like they could have mistaken a portal for not a portal.

Dern is a province that has been completely destroyed by The Eye or whatever, which comes from the realm of darkness or realm of shadows (name varies in different quests). This realm has a portal within Dern, but Dern itself is in the same world as Wynn and Gavel and whatnot.

If you want to say it’s not technically a province because it’s all ruined, that’s fine. But it’s still not a realm.

Yeah, it's obvious. So what about it?

I agree with you, Dern is a province, you see it stick out of the mountains and the secret discovery isn't in another dimension it's in the same world as Wynn or Gavel. Dern probably functions like Gavel and Wynn both have portals leading to their respective dimension but the provinces are all on the same plane of existance. But again that might already been known and i'm just wasting everybody's time.

 

In the title you call it a theory. Theory usually implies taking info in game and using critical thinking to come to a new conclusion, not just restating the obvious.
