Generic Fantasy - [5/7]

You still have the spellbook you learned it from, but as for the actual spell you've internalized how it works. It's still basically a mental magic-manipulating program, however, so someone of your... prior qualifications should probably know how spells work well enough to do that.

As you read, it strikes you just how similar basic illusion and invisibility are. A lot of spells have radically different framework, but these two are built on pretty much the exact the same kind.

This place isn't that far from where you started, so roughly 10 minutes.

You creak open the bedrooms. They have layers of dust on them, and are pretty dark and empty. A few insects skitter on the walls here and there. One of the rooms, the smaller one by a bit, has a hatch (to the roof?) on the top that could probably be undone with a single tug downwards. Shame that it's much too high for you to reach.

"Good point. Do you want to head down now and see if there is anyone left willing to take us up there? I doubt there are many, if there are any at all, but there's still the chance."

I put the book with the spell back into.. my book? wallet? hmm... , anyway after I put it back somewhere, I go to sleep.

 

"It's the best chance we've got. Lead the way!"

 

It means that whoever designed this spell took basic illusion and made a version of it that hugs the body while providing an image of what one would see if you weren't there. The standard basic illusion isn't built for that precision and shape, so whoever made this knew that and created invisibility off of it.

The guy across from you starts snoring. Loudly. If there was a competition for most distracting sound of all time, you'd have no doubt what the worst would be.

You start dreaming, heading into a blissful yet exciting scene of you - waaait a second.
You're sitting, legs crossed, back in that valley. The same damn cat is napping on your lap.
Either your subconscious is worse than you could have ever thought it was, or some powerful dream-person is fucking with you.

As you travel down to the docks, the members of that team slowly start introducing themselves. You begin noticing them for the first time, as if before they were some vague entity. This is all kinds of unsettling.

Spoiler: People

First off is Eneer, who's a pretty talkative guy with a bow and a nature-y getup. He seems nice enough.
There's also a guy named Rolof. He has ridiculously spiky hair and walks around with a pretty large sword. Constantly going off on tangents about fighting spirit or whatever.
Third is an old guy with a staff who's name is something with way too many syllablles. The first one is Russ, however, and that's what everyone else is calling him.
The final member is a quiet... person. He/She's in this hood and mask getup and hasn't spoken once. Literally all you've learned of him/her in the past few minutes is that they're humanoid.

After a short bit of walking (this town isn't very big from north-south, apparently), you arrive at a segment of the pier that looks somewhat safe. A single small (~10 ft) boat is moored on the end.

I try to get up to the hatch by moving and climbing up a piece of furniture.

 

"Well, this looks like our best shot, everyone. Now who's ready to go on an adventure?"

 

I catch it by the tail and held him upside down so he's head is on the same level as my head.
Eradius: "I'm getting really tired of your shit."
I then proceed to smash the cat into the ground holing him by the tail and using him like a flail.
Me yelling, Eradius: "That's what you get for fucking with me you brainless fuckwit."
I beat the cat into the ground until it's a bloody pulp, I then spin it like I'm doing around the world yoyo trick and then I throw it as far as I can.
I then proceed to go to sleep.

 

OOC Thorston: "...I swear, if HM would let me metagame a little..."

 

Do you want an invite to the PM's I'm having with HM? Becouse there's a lot more fucked up shit there then what I wrote here.

 

OOC Thorston: "So, with five vitality, I could Double Attack with a Melee base attack to insta-kill, but it would need to be a sneak attack so I don't get killed myself..."

Well I guess I'll head towards Kyuuvar. I'll be lucky if I'm not considered a criminal though.

Also, wow. The OP of this thread is very long.

 

It's ok. I have god-like powers, but I can't use them. Everything is in the backstory.
Also since HM has nothing aginst it and I'm not just cheesing my way through everything, then I'd say it's fine, also me having the least vitality out of all players kinda counters any powerful abbilities I have.
And let's not forget that in this day and age pretty much everything is either a rip-off, or is inspired by something else. I almost never see any original ideas.

Can you use the sickness-aura-thing on Thorston or not?

True, as Thorston can kill you from hiding with a single Double Strike Sneak Attack, perhaps using a potion or two. Still, you're a glass cannon caster, so Thorston's dead if you spot him before he can get off the attack.

That was just a reference to a vaguely similar webcomic. You can forget about the link; it was just a little joke for HM.
