Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Terrae lightly brings down the crate into a noticably empty Lost and Found area. It's almost eerie how compared to the rest of the docks, this area is silent.

 

Nails are too small. I'll just grab a door hinge and scrath my sycthe against it to form sparks.

 

They swipe at her with a few daggers before finally going limp, though their body isn't a particularly effective shield when just about everything pierces everything that isn't heavily armored.

"Call it a fallback. It's super cold up here."

There's no other cartriges, but there is one still in the taser.

"Of course. And if it's any comfort, he was killed on a trip to the surface."

Ren uncloaks.
"Where is this?"

You get a few sparks, but not enough to start a fire without kindling.

 

Shadow Stephanie just uses the body to hide behind when she's shot with light again, still trying to crush the mech.

 

"Okay. Maybe I'll go and visit it later, alone."
He returns to the cave.

 

Voidfiller places the items through a portal, then walks back to me.
“Now?”
Instead of answering, he drops the two of us through a portal into the castle.

 

She can't destroy the mech on her own, but she distracts it long enough for the mech she rode in on to finish it off.
"You look like you could use an upgrade, queenie."

Ignia and Mortimer soon are in sight.


Tirra and Aeris find themselves at the reactor, additional defenses starting to be built around it.


Victus and Aqui find themselves alone as their holomaps show chamber four in their branches in the process of being breached.

"Hey, you can still go... I'm just cold."

The whole group's still there, but they look at you and Voidfiller with a bit of confusion.
"What was the whole raptor thing about?"

 

"I'll bring you back to the cave and then I'll head out myself. That okay?"

 

"I don't want you getting chilled, I'll be fine."

 

Shadow Stephanie seems a little annoyed by this, deciding to increase her size and smash another mech with a large pair of fists.


Ignia and Mortimer send the Shadows out toward the forces attacking, providing support without actually entering space.


Tirra builds huge walls around the reactor, while Aeris keeps an eye out for any oncoming enemies.


Victus and Aqui head to chamber four quickly, Victus firing arrows that cause vines to erupt from their victim and strangle others around them, releasing spores which have the same effect when inhaled as soon as he sees the enemies. Aqui tries to wash any enemies back with huge waves, which freeze once the enemies are far enough back, trapping them within.

 

She's able to knock the shields out, but the mech lets a shockwave loose followed by a hail of icy shots.

The shadows find themselves facing the same problem as Shadow Stephanie; they can open up opportunities for the mechs to finish jobs, but can't quite close the deal on their own.


The respirators help resist Victus' spores, but the invaders resort to using water to dampen the effect of the chaining vines.
Aqui winds up catching a few mechs in her wave. Those with shields are simply pushed back slightly, but those without are left vulnerable for other mechs to pick off.


Aeris and Tirra seem to have some time; chamber 4 isn't marked as destroyed yet.

 

“Not entirely sure.”
“Did they know about the king’s death?”

 

Shadow Stephanie is knocked off by the shockwave, and the icy shots slow her down a little, though she responds by jamming her dagger into the mech, extending her arm to reach it.


The Shadows decide to possess whatever enemies they can, taking off their respirators and not controlling their lungs to make them suffocate as they use their bodies as their own mech suits.


The vines seem to absorb the water, making them stronger and tougher. Victus moves his hands outward, similar smaller hands erupting from the vines and trying to rip off the respirators. Aqui creates a huge block of ice, before sending it sliding towards the biggest concentration of enemies.


Tirra continues building and strengthening her walls, even adding staircases for anyone behind the wall to get up onto it. Aeris keeps looking for the first signs of enemies, unable to make any lasting defences.

 

"I'll transform and go around as a wolf. I can make this work, don't worry."

 

"No, I don't think so."

Its armor is thick enough that it doesn't even go all the way through, but a friendly railgun shot does.


Three get lucky and take control of mechs, but it's not long before they get blasted by the defending mechs. Apparently their tech isn't used to posession...


Another wave sweeps over, letting off a strong smell of alcohol in the air.
Every mech holds fire, knowing the consequences of doing so.


A few friendly mechs begin pounding at both ends of the wall, compacting it.
Aeris still sees nothing, but she's a bit close to a spectral transition... what seems like a holographic dagger is swiped just in front of her face.


The ice block buys time for a few autoturrets to emerge, providing covering fire.
Aqui feels like she's going to go deaf if this amount of gunfire keeps up.

"Alright. Thanks, love."

 

Shadow Stephanie leaps off the mech and onto another, rapidly shanking it with her knife.


The Shadows simply evacuate their dead hosts, finding more to possess.


Victus decides to grow a pile of what seems to be dried, green leaves around the enemies, the plant gradually getting thicker and thicker the more Victus adds to it. A few moments later, the plant erupts into smoke, fire quickly spreading through it and the enemies.


Aeris, taken back slightly, throws her boomerangs through, which spiral around past each other as they fly back to her. One creates a powerful blast of air around itself, knocking anything near it back, while another creates a vacuum, sucking anything into it and hitting it.


Aeris creates a pair of thick ice ear muffs to cover her ears, before covering the autoturrets in ice, while leaving their barrels uncovered to not prevent fire; aiming to add protection and stop them from heating as quickly.

 

"Let's bring you back first."
He returns to the cave.

 

Another shockwave it let loose, and she's hit with a shard of a broken shield as a railgun hits a nearby mech.


A few of them are caught by railgun shots or blasts of half-light magic that seem to be used to heavily damage shields... and shadows.


A gust of wind envelops the entire room in fire, Victus and his forces included. Most mechs are unaffected, but anyone on foot is having regrets.
...The firefight continues now that there's no point in holding back, though a few shells go off in their chambers due to the heat.


They don't quite work the way they normally do in the spectral plane, and they wind up hitting nothing.


Half of the autocannons detect this and ramp up their rate of fire, though it's starting to seem like there's no good way of avoiding going deaf if things get even more heated.
She's caught on the edge of the blast of an explosive round taking out a mech, a chunk of its armor flying off and hitting her which shatters her earmuffs and causes her ears to ring.

Anne hops off your shoulder and heads up to the wyvern.
"Don't take too long, okay?"

 

Shadow Stephanie spends a moment in pain, before quickly healing the large cut on her and continues fighting.


A few Shadows are killed, and more are so badly injured they retreat to safety, though this seems to make the other Shadows more adamant, trying to stealth into the farther back lines, pretending to be falling back or changing position.


Victus quickly surrounds himself in a thick wooden shield, the fire only able to burn it slowly, giving him time.


Aeris retrieves her boomerangs and charges up electricity in her wings, before moving back and putting them together, sending a massive bolt of lightning through the barrier that arcs through anything conductive.


Aqui screams in pain, tears starting to run down her face as she quickly tries to cover her ears, before surrounding herself in a thick dome of ice, freezing herself inside.

 

“Might be it, then.”
“Do you guys still own Mantis arms?”
I ask, quickly changing the subject.
