Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"You didn't even give her a... whatever." A raptor squawks, before giving up. "Not like we thought twice about killing back then..."

 

I just inspect the dagger, while back at the castle, Voidfiller grabs the blacklight and makes sure the papers aren't messed with.

 

Everything's in line and undisturbed.

 

Is anybody else still in the room?

 

"It sure was. So much so I'm unsure if I will be able to make it to the surface tonight. You wouldn't happen to have lodgings, would you?"

 

Yes. Nobody left the room; someone brought everyone lunch.

"Ironically, I don't. I do, however, have a second bedroom in my chambers... there used to be a king, until he was overthrown."

 

Voidfiller surrounds the table in a thick, wooden wall before portalling back to me with the blacklight.

 

Nobody questions it, just about used to Voidfiller's antics by now.

 

I hold up the dagger by the sharp end.
"Take a look."
I offer to Voidfiller, who uses the blacklight to inspect the handles for prints.

 

The handle has the same fingerprints as the darts. However, the blade's serrated; no way it could have cut as cleanly as the knife used to kill the king.

 

"Same marks as the darts..."
Voidfiller says, disappointed.
"Well, at least we still have something."

 

The crowd of mantis and raptors begins to thin out, albeit slowly.

 

“So? Now?”
“We either tell people the news, or we keep it a secret and try to use it to weed out whoever killed the king.”
“I like the sound of the second option more.”

 

A bit of snickering from a few onlookers, but not much else.

 

“Let’s go?”
“Hold on.”
Voidfiller crouches down to the corpse again, looking for the tracker she mentioned.

 

There's a shorted out device in her pocket.

 

He takes the device anyways, as well as looking for any taser cartridges, then going over to pick up the taser.

 

"Want to go there. Maybe it's a good place for our marriage."
He points at the mountain ridge.

 

Shadow Stephanie tries to dodge it as best she can, before extending an arm and spearing a draconian through the heart, pulling them back to her and using them as a macabre shield.

 

"Interesting. In that case, I shall use those Chambers, if you allow it."

Secretly, I'm a bit nervous about sleeping in the bed of an over thrown monarch. It could be me who's thrown out of that bed soon enough
