Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"The ramp."

"MURDER!"
"SHUT UP, YOU, I THINK WE DID GOOD ENOUGH!!"

 

“Thanks.”
I say, before jetting off towards the ramp.

 

Shadow Stephanie looks for the first sign of an enemy.

 

Voidfiller's there, along with the woman (dead) and four other raptors running around still screaming/chanting MURDER.

The first sign would be a cannon shot barely missing her hand, the mech rattling off a minigun in response.

 

I land next to Voidfiller.
“What happened?”
“She popped a suicide pill before I could get anything outta her.”
“Nothing?”
“Well, she admitted to the poison dart thing, but that’s about it.”

 

"You drowned her!" A mantis shouts from the side.
"Why didn't you let her talk?"
"And people say raptors look bad..."

 

Shadow Stephanie launches herself toward the shot, shifting her body around oncoming fire.

 

“Drowned people don’t foam from the mouth and have their skin burned off!”
He retaliates, pointing towards the body.
“Did you drown her before then?”
I ask suspiciously.
“Well, only after she tried me.”

 

One cannon's fairly easy to dodge, but it's a bit hard to keep track of railgun projectiles, miniguns, micromissile salvos, needles, and shock rounds coming from nearly every angle.

"So you admit to killing her!"
"He did say he didn't care..."
"And?! Now everyone'll blame us and we'll be right back to where we started!"

 

Shadow Stephanie calms down and focuses, dodging nearly every projectile that comes her way before she gets close enough to murdering range.

 

“I thought you worked as a torturer a lot.”
“Yeah. What about it?”
“I just figured you might know to check for pills.”
“People usually either did or did not pop them by the time they got to me.”
“You should still know to check for that kind of stuff.”
“What’s your point?”

 

She gets grazed by a few needles, but they don't particularly hurt.
Seems the Hive Master is using mostly normal draconians with some kind of breathing attachment to attack, as well as other mech units. Take your pick of victims.

The group watching you two gets bigger.

 

Shadow Stephanie slices the breathing attatchments, before rabidly attacking a mech, smashing at it with huge fists.

 

“I’m just clarifying things.”
“Wh- what is there to clarify? Girl killed herself, mighta had an accomplice, mighta not.”
“And if she did, we don’t have any leads now.”
“She was diggin’ here for something,”
Voidfiller points to where she was digging.
“and I don’t really know much other than that.”

 

The crowd gets even bigger, most of the crowd staring directly at Voidfiller.

It only gets rid of some of the draconians, and the mech responds to its dented armor by firing a pulse of light through Shadow Stephanie. It's not strong, but it's enough to sting.

 

“Well? What’s there?”
Voidfiller checks what was in the spot of what she was digging up, parting the earth if needed.

 

There's a bloody dagger.

 

“Well then!”
Voidfiller uses a gloved hand to pull out the dagger by the hilt.
“Lookit what we’ve got here!”

 

"Couldn't have let her dig it up?" One of the raptors asks, still annoyed.
"They better not blame this on us ruinfolk."

 

“She did dig it up, and was also an accomplice to the murderer of the king. Don’t feel sorry for her.”
“Can you go back and get the blacklight? And make sure people didn’t mess with the inked fingerprints.”
Voidfiller gives the dagger to me before portalling away, doing exactly what I said to do.
