“Alright. That’ll be all. Thanks, fellas.”
I take and pocket the blowgun and darts, getting their papers once more.

 

They nod, seeming nervous.
"You think he'll accuse us?"
"I dunno? I mean, they were super accurate last time."

 

I don’t seem to mind their conversation, cross-referencing their inked papers with the prints on the darts found in the necks of the guards.

 

Neither match.

 

I put the papers back, taking the paper of the blacksmith.
Did they have any non-flat fingers?

 

"Speaking ill of those who treat you well never leads to well being. All will soon come back to haunt you if you do."

 

He walks to the deeper part of the cave, searching for the dragoness.
"Hello? Miss dragon!"

 

"What food can you provide?" A Shadow asks.

 

They did not.
That's when you realize you forgot to fingerprint the woman.

"Heh, don't worry too much about it. I don't plan to send anyone up there."

She turns, curled up around her children.
"Yes?"

"We have too much to list, but scans indicate that your preference of blood unfortunately cannot be met within the time constraints we are under."

 

I turn back to the group, looking to see if she's still here.

 

She isn't, though her briefcase is with the other three.

 

"Meat?" A Shadow asks.

 

I walk over to the other three, gesturing for the briefcase.
“What did you know about that woman, the one you guys were with?”

 

"Eighteen variants available, excluding fish."

"She's always kept to herself, but she said she knew where the knife was."
They toss you the briefcase.

 

"We'll have all eighteen!" Another Shadow says happily.

 

"Request for every type of meat available in queue. Priority: high. Estimated time for delivery is five minutes."

 

I open the briefcase, looking inside.
“How likely is it that she can survive outside of the Respite?”

 

"Very. She's done it before for months."

All the chemicals are inside, as well as the scalpel.

 

The Shadows seem pleased, going back to their card games.

 

I show them the chemicals.
“Any idea what these are?”
