Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I walk back over to the table, patiently waiting for them to finish up.

 

"It's sort of different though. Tenebrae is like, a mother to us as Gaia is a mother to guardians and humans. She's not our biological mother, but she's sort of responsible for our existence in the first place," Shadow Stephanie explains, "As the royalty of the Shadows, we have a closer connection to her. Aj just likes to be smug about it."

 

By the time you get back, everyone's done.

"So... you denied me saying she should treat you like her children because you are by saying that you're closer to actually being demigods than her other children?"

 

"What? No? I just meant we can speak to her more easily." Shadow Stephanie says, confused.

 

Idhaenna sighs.
"Whatever, I'm sure you're tired of Gaia calling you demons anyways. We're almost to my chambers... and Nod?"
"Yes, milady?"
"Stop staring at only one of them."
"If you say so, milady."
It starts tracking Shadow Stephanie.

 

Shadow Stephanie decides to go invisible, only a glow from her eyes visible.

"I find it offensive." I comment.

 

"That must have been very stressful for you, majesty. I would be quite happy to hear that kingdom is gone forever."

 

I inspect the papers, keeping an eye on the group.

 

Nod still stares directly at her.

"She's not a big fan of carnivores. It's sort of ironic."

Some of the prints are smudged. You'll have to have four people do it again.

"I'm still not... too many innocents got hurt that day."

 

I beckon Voidfiller over before calling the four names.

 

"Hm, explains why she wasn't too amazed with Artemis then." I comment.

 

"She'll warm up to you. Most of her distrust is that everyone who's lashed out at her was an omnivore or carnivore. It's sad to see her distrust her own children."

The four look confused, coming over.
"Yeah?"
"Is this because my thumbprint got smudged?"
"We mess up?"

 

"Some prices must be paid to keep your citizens safe. Sometimes those must be extreme cases."

 

"It'd be kind of terrible if Tenebrae stopped trusting us." I say.

 

"The ends don't justify the means... but the crime is done and I'm left to live with the guilt." She sighs.

"It'd be kind of terrible if a few people lashed out at her and ruined it for every shadow."

 

"Yeah, though she's only actually visited the realm on extremely rare occasions." I say.

"She visited for your birthday and kissed you, which still can't understand and the more I think about it the weirder it gets." Shadow Stephanie says, remaining invisible.

 

"I'm sorry for your guilt, and I do understand. I've done some very...questionable things in the past few days that I wish I hadn't done."

 

"Once in a lifetime isn't too much to ask."

"Like overdose on unknown herbs?" Reiglynn asks, laughing.

 

I glare at Reiglynn.

"Glad to see Solis is keeping you up on your world history, Elder."

 

"We do keep in touch, yes."

"Give him a break. Can his visit not be enjoyable?"
