GAsplund's Resourcepack Manager is a program built to simplify and make it easier to add many small (or large) resource packs, allowing you to customize the gameplay experience like you want it.

The program can be downloaded at my GitHub.



Important information
This program uses the default .minecraft path, and will not work with any other path unless you are using a symlink.

If you think that this could be malware, the source code is at the GitHub from which you can also compile the code for yourself.

I will kindly accept any contributions made towards this project. Contributions to my code can be made as a pull request on my GitHub. I will not implement your code or contribution if it is useless or affects the program in a negative way.



Custom sources
This program contains a function to use your own sources for packs. If you want to make your own, you can use this file as a template.



Adding your pack to the official sources
Create a file hosted on any site (Preferably Pastebin, Github or Github Gist) using this template and send it to me over PM. Use this link for help. If you have any problems with creating the file, you can also PM me for help. I will add your pack if it's not a low-effort, low-quality pack.

FAQ
Q: Why does the program freeze when downloading some or any packs?
A: It may because of several factors, but the main factor is pack size. Remain patient and wait, if you know that you have a slow connection. If it doesn't unfreeze, you can try force closing and trying again.

I get that this program can change resource pack looks on the fly, but what exactly does it do to make our lives easier?
Does it swap singular textures from a single pack, or does it change equipped resource packs outside of minecraft? or is it unique in that it can change server resource packs?

 

The main purpose in this is to make a better user experience for people who want very specific features of some resource packs but maybe not other features. It is a planned feature to be able to add and remove some aspects of packs, because it can become very cluttered if customization is purely based on editions.

Take for example, I want to have some pack to reskin Wynn weapons. But what if I only want to have weapon skins for spears? That means that I have to go into the files of that resource pack and remove specific files, in this case I have to remove textures and models for the other weapons which is just too much of a hassle to most.

And to answer your other questions, it's not entirely possible to change server resource packs, nor is it that easy to enable packs from outside of the Minecraft client.

Also, don't be too surprised that there are only 3 packs from "official" sources. This is a 2-man project with only me on code.

Version 1.0 is soon to be released! Some bugs are there and a few features have to be finished. I have released a pre-release here for bug testing in the meantime:
