Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Hesitation.

"Oh, come on, enough with the grave attitude, mister death jokes and miss death threats. You're not going to introduce yourselves?"

You could either cut down a tree and cut boards from the log, or use some of the firewood as makeshift planks. You also have some rusty nails back in the cabin.

 

Sounds like work. I'll just wade in the water.

 

"Shadow Stephanie." Shadow Stephanie says.

"Aj. Shadow Aj." I say flatly.

Aeris sounds like she's about to say something, though Tirra puts a hand on her shoulder, signalling for her not to.

 

"If she wants to introduce herself, she can. As for me, I am Idhaenna, goddess of the skies, stars, and spirits."

You might get frostbite, and there's nobody willing to operate on you if that happens. Will you really risk taking the plunge?

 

"Give me the one you're good with."

 

"So like, Caelia, Gaia's air form and Mortius?" I say.

"It's nice to meet you." Shadow Stephanie says, glaring at me.

"U-Um, I'm Aeris." Aeris says.

"Ignia." Ignia says.

"Aqui." Aqui says.

"Mortimer." Mortimer says.

"Tirra." Tirra says.

"Victus." Victus says.

 

They hold out their left hand.

"I find it hard to believe you two shadows aren't married." Idhaenna laughs. "As for the others, it's nice to meet you. Pardon the panic, we only were recently warned of the likely attack."

 

Voidfiller takes the hand a writes "1" on it.
"Write that on your paper instead of your name."

 

They do that, but it's far from a straight line.

 

Voidfiller goes down the line and does the same thing, but instead writing "2" then "3" then "4" then "5".

 

"I know about the assassins, but why did they send the assassins? Was it some dealings you were doing or just plain xenophobia?"

 

"I don't he is. It's just a magic barrier."

 

The numbers barely resemble numbers, but they're different enough to tell apart.

"We'll never know. I brought diplomats to the table three times, and they never gave a reason."

"Yeah, but someone's gotta maintain it."

 

"There are a lot of dragons and wyverns on the island. One is probably taking care of them."

 

"We're the king and queen of our realm, and we did try dating once. It didn't work out, though." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

Voidfiller seems content, de-summoning the pen and walking over to me.

 

I'm a demon. My body temperature is probably -20 anyways.

 

"True... whoever's keeping it up, I hope it holds." She sighs, worried.

...Still, the shock of the cold water is as annoying as you'd expect. Problem is, stepping on the bottom of the lake causes the nearby water to get murky, so you can't really see where the fish are.

"Wait, what now?" One asks.

"We have our own partners." I say.

"Yeah, we're just friends." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"I figured."
She comes to the end of the hallway, turning.
"Do any of you object to temporarily dying?" She asks, stepping backwards through the hall, her appearance becoming ghostlike.
