Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I think we're in the wrong place." I say.

"Yeah. These guys don't seem the most with it." Shadow Stephanie says.

"I-I like this place." Aeris shyly says, though quietly.

"Did Emerald telepathically tell you what the portal was supposed to look like?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

"No, we could try every other portal until someone knows the god of death though." I say.

 

"Alright then. Everyone listen up."
He says loudly, making sure that everyone is alert.

 

The portal winds up closing, a slight disturbance rippling through the wireframe.

One of the gryphons lands nearby.
"Hey, stoneheads. Stand down, she's on her way to deal with these people."
The grotesque pause, then return to their statue positions.

Everyone conscious, hold the woman, looks at you attentively.

 

Shadow Stephanie seems impressed, while I look mildly annoyed.

"Thank you, uh...?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

 

The gryphon shakes their head.
"I'm remains in three days and four hours. No sense thanking me for anything."

A bright glow slowly comes towards the group until it dims slightly and reveals a massive, half-spectral gryphon.
"God of death, huh? I'll save you the trouble of my disdain for that statement and allow you to speak your mind. Hurry, our days are numbered... and so are yours, if you want to play the holier-than-thou game." Her voice booms, though her every movement is graceful.

 

"Uh, yeah, how do we help you with the hive master? And what's up with this place?" I ask.

 

"Hmph. No questions about the others' palaces, and all of them for mine? Have you no respect for the dead?"

You feel her stare literally wearing down at your soul.

 

Voidfiller turns into a human before he speaks up.
"This process is pretty simple. You're going to grab a piece of paper and write your name on the margin at the top."
He gestures to the cup of pencils on the table.
"Then, make room for other people and walk over to the ink pads. You'll see that on the paper you pick up there are ten boxes, one for each finger. Place your finger in the ink as so, then press onto the box corresponding to the finger you dipped."
Voidfiller uses his human form to demonstrates the process, just using the table.
"Now, we are not fingerpainting, so don't smear your finger across it. Just press. Once you're done, put your paper off to the side. Do not stack any papers."
Voidfiller summons water and wipes off his finger and fingerprint, before the water disappears into a portal.
"If you ever feel the need to wash your hands, just ask."

 

One person raises their hand.
"What if I don't know how to write?"

 

"Who else doesn't know how to write?"
Voidfiller asks, reverting back to his normal self.

 

"Look, I don't have time for faffing about with every other god's palace. The hive master is going to attack here, and I'm not going to go flower picking in the best grove in Gaia's palace while he tries to control you and then kills all of us with you." I say, staring back unafraid.

 

Four others raise their hands.

 

"You five, come here. The rest of you, do as told."

 

Her stare turns to a smile.
"...Rough around the edges with a big heart. Seems I heard correctly about you. Come, you'll want to know where defensive chokepoints are." She says, turning and walking away.

They nod, doing as told as a line starts to form of people fingerprinting themselves.

 

"Ah, what?" I ask, confused.

"Just roll with it. It's like trying to lie to Tenebrae." Shadow Stephanie says, leading the group, following Idhaenna.

 

Voidfiller summons a modern pen.
"Form a line."

 

"What do you mean, what? You don't want to let yourself get surrounded, do you?" She asks, glancing back at you.

The five oblige, a bit confused.

 

He uncaps the pen, walking up to the first person.
“Gimmie your hand.”

 

I just follow, staying quiet.
