Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I will." Rin says, flying out of Ali's private kitchen, albeit struggling with the door a little.


The Shadow seems hurt, doubling their pace through the portal.

 

"I should get all of your fingerprints."
He stands up.
"Is everyone here?"

 

Ali makes sure it stays ajar.


A quiet sigh can be heard on the other side of the portal.
The dial seems to have since been reset to the darkness symbol.

"'cept that one crazy lady."
"A few she tased are still out like a light."

 

"Apparently it does. The wyvern told me and I assume he knows what he's talking about."

 

I poke my head into the darkness portal.

 

There's not one portal, but the five there usually are.

"If he's one of the creatures keeping the barrier up, isn't that, like, a problem that he's here?"

 

"Where are the unconscious people?"
A table appears out of nowhere.

 

"I think the woman went to get them."

 

I scroll through the dials, avoiding Earth, waiting for a portal that looks like one to a deathly realm opens.

 

"Good. Makes things easier."
He sticks his hand in a portal, and digs around for something, eventually pulling out a pad along with ink.

 

Water and fire do not lock, and wind opens up into what seems like a largely holographic palace with a pair of grotesque standing guard over the portal.

The woman comes back, dragging one of the three back.

 

"Ah. You're back."
He comments, before continuing to dig through the portal with his hand.

 

I lead the group through the wind portal.

"You sure this is the place?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

"Worth a shot." I say.

 

You step on a hexagonal mesh, the guards moving from their pedastols and blocking your way.
"Who are you... and why... are you here...?"

Harpy and hundreds of other avian creatures fly overhead, the occasional dragon or wyvern along with pegasi. Most of the palace seems to be set up with a wireframe mesh of sorts, the entire place smelling like a field with a breeze passing by. Nearly everything is orange, yellow, and gold with a fair amount of brightness from all directions.
A few robotic bugs skitter by, half of them scanning the group as they go by.

"Two more." She says, practically throwing the one she was carrying on the ground and turning back.

 

"Mm."
Voidfiller nods, bringing out strips of paper and laying them out of the table.

 

"Destroying an entire kingdom can have consequences like that, I suppose. Now, why did you decide to destroy the kingdom?"

 

After fifteen minutes, she comes back with the second.

"Again, they regularly sent assassins after me."

 

"Is this the realm belonging to the god of death?" I ask calmly.

 

Voidfiller's just organizing at this point, counting heads, arranging papers, and checking ink.

 

"There is... no god of death..."
"You really... come to our home... to disturb spirits...?"

A few gryphons fly a bit close overhead, one turning and grinning at you.

By the time the woman's dragged the third person back, everyone and everything seems to be accounted for.
