The faeries nod, though sweating.


"I see." I say.

 

Ali hesitates.
"...I'll try seeing if the smith likes it, then." She says, taking a small cup and putting the spiciest puddy-like ball in it.


"Are you here just to check up on me, or did you intend to help me purge my domain of poisoned roots?"

 

The faeries just try to cool their mouths down.


"To check up on you, but if you need help I can send a group to assist you." I say.

 

I organize everything, stalking for the woman to come back.

 

"Well, it depends on the size. Your smaller, so your babies will be too probably."

 

Ali offers them a mint leaf.


"Don't stretch yourself too thin."

"That too. They are fairly small... then again, I'm fairly small."

It takes about fifteen minutes, but she shows up with a cleaned paintbrush and the briefcase of chemicals.

 

Mish takes it, splitting it and sharing it with Rin, who eats it immediately.


"I'm barely stretched thin here, don't worry." I say.

 

I hold my hand out for the brush.
“I take that it went well.”

 

"And the dragoness is way bigger, so ofcourse her dragonlings are bigger too."

 

Lets try the fishing rod thing.

 

Their tongues are numbed slightly, taste in their mouths replaced with a soft mint taste."

"Yeah, that doesn't help in terms of you keeping them busy."

"She had a whole unopened box of new brushes." She says, handing you the brush.

Scrapping what you have together, you can use a branch as the rod, there's still some fishing line in a drawer, but no hook. Maybe you could scrape the rust off an old nail, then bend it for a hook?

 

Ugh...
Could I use my sycthe as a fishing spear?

 

"They are allowed to play with mushroom-free logs and bones. So that's always an option."

 

"Sounds like her."
I get the powder, gently pouring it over where the print was and using the brush to spread the powder.

 

You could try, but you might end up cutting the fish clean in half.

It reveals two fingerprints; one normal one, and one that's completely flat.

"That's... specific."

 

"It's probably because she doesn't want her dragonlings to get hurt. Mushrooms could make them sick and stones could maybe break their teeth if they aren't careful."

 

"Hm..."
I say, putting what I have in my hands down and getting the tape.

 

"Did you already get the slides from your friend?" The woman asks, handing you the tape.

"That makes sense... but couldn't bones do the same thing?"

 

"Not yet. I should ask him what's taking so long..."
I put my hand to my ear, not taking the tape yet.

 

"Well, dragons eat other animals whole. So maybe it's not that bad for them."
