Mish nods.

 

"Sure, what do you need?"

"There's someone else in there? Did you let them have a few cookies?"

 

"Yes, we shared them." Mish says.

 

"They want a lot of attention. I can't really do it on my own. Also, they hurt when I pet them, but you can't do much about that."

 

"Are they a water fae? There was a fishtank, so I'm guessing..."

"Heh, yes they do. Now do you see why I hardly ever go out?" She asks, sweeping her young into a pile with her tail, the eight playfully nipping at her tail in response.

 

"You should go outside every now and then. I can take care of them for a while, but I would need to know what to do."

 

Mish nods.

"I'll go get her." Mish says, flying back into the farm room.

 

"Half the battle is entertaining them. If they're bored, then they try to get out."

Ali waits, cleaninng up a bit.

 

"So just having a little battle with them might help?"

 

There's a slight commotion from the farm room, before Mish flies out with a blue faerie.

"H-Hi, I'm R-Rin." Rin says, bowing whilst hovering.

 

"Well... no. Their hides are thin, you could kill them easily. If you find a big branch or something, you could probably pester them with it for a good hour before they chew it all up."

"Hi Rin, did you like the cookies?" Ali asks, smiling.

 

"Uh, y-yes, I did." Rin says, staying close to Mish. A turquoise colour is created where Mish's and Rin's auras overlap.

 

"I see. I should get on that then."

 

"Again, sorry for scaring you two. I didn't know I'd have anyone helping me."
Pause.
"...And, uh, what kind of food do you two like? I may as well try and make up for the poor introduction."

"The only thing is I don't want them getting at rocks or mushrooms. Whatever else you find is probably okay to have them go after."

 

"I didn't realise you were Ali. We weren't expecting someone as...different, as you." Mish says.

"I-I like, um, juicy things." Rin says.

 

"What, like mushrooms that grew on the logs? I could remove them."

 

“Perfect.”
I say aloud, turning off the light.
“Two fingerprints.”

 

"Well, I guess I do hail from another reality. I... I want to support the shadow king, but I can only cook. Turns out it took a few months of asking for me to cave and come take a job here."

"Yeah, those."

The woman offers you a piece of tape, powder, and a slide.

 

"Well, we're here to help you." Mish says.

"Yeah, the shadow king told us you were really important." Rin says, seemingly over her nerves.

 

"I'll keep an eye out for them. Anything else they can or cannot play with?"
