Oh yeah definitely, I try not to judge entertainment like that. It just seems... a little overwhelming for how many different kinds of Anime there are. It's like you're a little nervous that you might come across something sexual or surprising in a show/movie that you didn't expect it from.

Note: I have not watched all of these, I was just listing mainstream. Some are longer than others (One Piece is at episode 820 and still airing), some are better than others. You might not find all of them appealing, but that's fine. I wouldn't recommend all of these to be honest.

If you watch Avatar (wouldn't really recommend it as an anime), just make sure that you don't base assumptions of anime from the show. The writers/producers probably think differently since the cultures vary.

tbh i would recommend berserk, but you might (probably) wont like it for several reasons
first off, the anime is atrocious (well the 2016-2017 ones at least lol)

would still highly recommend lmao
if you look past all the dark and gory shit, it tells an honestly great story of like one guy against the whole world.
the story is never slow or boring, the art is amazing (you might not think so for the first hundred or so chapters but keep in mind this is ongoing for 30+ years lol) you can see each character has unique personalities and arcs that really make you like and care about them
all in all a great manga not for everyone but honestly man

I think I’ll pass... I’m not that squeamish about gore and violence, it’s just that when it is just gore and violence, it becomes boring and repetitive at best and uncomfortable at worst. If I’d want a ruined, hellish background I’d just go play Dark Souls. Or if I wanted to see a premise of one man versus the world, I’d even watch Samurai Jack. My point is is that there are already movies/shows/video games that do this while not going over the edge.

I remember I saw a WiseCrack episode about Berserk, and they talked about how it made violence and gore beautiful. If that’s the whole premise then I’d rather watch something else.

I appreciate the advice, but I think I’ll stay away from it (for now).
