Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Ali pauses before going back to her kitchen, closing the portal because she forgot, and heading back to an elevator to get to the library.

 

Nobody stops Ali, the elevator dials glowing faintly as they're ready to be turned.

 

“Good.”
He comes out of the dungeon.
“Where’s the last place?”

 

Same deal; open guidebook, find library combo, input library combo, go to book finding machine, this time search for "botany."

"Well... raising those earth walls might've screwed the last one up."
"We'll see soon enough." The woman groans.

 

“Whaddya mean?”

 

Many books related to botany come up, some guides, others fiction and a few non-fiction and histories.

 

She tries entering "botany for cooking" into the search bar.

"He means that you may have busted the microscope and slides when you threw up the walls down there." The woman says bluntly.

 

Fewer results come up this time, and a lot less related to the actual search. A few of the books appear to be about plants used in cooking, others about how to identify mushrooms and some about just cooking.

One of the books catches Ali's eye, however: "A botanist's guide to fine cooking."

 

She taps on the book, mild interest showing through her frustration.

 

“Ah, right, that’d break it.”
Voidfiller doesn’t seem the slightest bit upset about it.

 

The woman rolls her eyes.
"Well, are we going to check or are you going to turn into a microscope?"

 

“Let’s move.”
Voidfiller leads the way, and I quickly follow.

 

Those who can walk keep pace, mostly silent except for the woman who seems to be mumbling to herself.

 

The book appears to be about how a botanist can begin cooking, going into more complex recipes and creating them too. It appears to be written by "C. Spring", and translated by "Ron Jones".

 

Voidfiller keeps walking at a quickened pace, while I keep an eye on the woman.

 

Ali tries to retrieve the book, recording its ID.

She's got three spent taser cartridges and mostly seems to be mumbling at the various stains on her labcoat.

After a minute, the group arrives at the wall.
"Shovel or magic?" the woman asks, still seeming a bit irritated.

 

The book is teleported to the machine, it's ID appearing to be "729f"

 

"You had enough yet?" He asks the lapdragon.

 

“Was it supposed to be under where the wall is right now?”

 

She starts paging through it, trying to identify some of the grains she saw.

It responds with a chirp, another dragonling wriggling up on your lap and walking partway up your chest to sniff at your face.

"Buried near the edge of the ramp, yeah."
