What is the beast on dead island (in the past)? It has something to do with Dern, but what is it?

Just so you know. I wish the poor realm of light was done better, it's not terribly interesting right now.

 

True, I wish there was more exploring stuff, not just the quest (and, ofc, the runestone completed)

Probably because of this dialogue in Memory Paranoia:

• Mr. Caritat: FROM THE SOILS OF DOOM THE SERVANT LAID
• Mr. Caritat: BREAK THROUGH THE REALMS TO THE LAND OF TRADE.
• Mr. Caritat: CORRUPT THE WORLD WITH SEEDS OF PAIN
• Mr. Caritat: SO THAT HE...
• Mr. Caritat: ...MAY RISE AGAIN!

I think the most interesting thing about this text (assuming Mr. Caritat is talking about the Eye) is that he says ‘again.’ This implies that the Eye has already experienced a time of.. whatever’s better than the situation now.

that sounds an awful lot like Wynn. Considering it hubs the largest trading center in Wynn.

 

Can Grian just tell us what the Eye even is already? :(

And I don't know if it's just be, but he is definitively talking about Gavel. Because Gavel is the land of freakin trade. And villagers. And money.

 

If all these signs are found in the prison, in different cells, wouldn't it make sense that they are written by different people/ancient?
One wants power, one of them turned into something terrifying. Heck, maybe all of them turned into terrifying beings, but this one is the only one that actually tells us more about it.
(Also, where can I find this prison?)

It’s actually arguable that Wynn is the realm of trade. Gavel shouldn’t get a lot of imports from Wynn, considering that human settlements are not even allowed. This is minor as once you lug your goods to Llevigar you can sell them there. I suppose it’s also possible to transport goods via airship and making serious trade available in Cinfras.
But you don’t see anything specifically Wynnic.
In Wynn there is the biggest (noted) trading hub in the world - Detlas (as I don’t believe there is anything stating that Cinfras is a large trade hub although I could be wrong). Villagers saved (what I assume was) a floundering economy in Wynn (how could it be doing well after about 900 years of war?). Then they started trading with Wynn.

I think it’s more likely that the place Mr. Caritat is talking about is Gavel. He even mentions the seeds (the ones in the realm of light, although it’s never stated that there are any seeds in any other realm also we haven’t seen any). The servant could easily be the worm thing in Taproot - the quest is even in the same storyline. The worm is connected to darkness (by its design - it’s black and has a creepy face with red eyes. The connection isn’t actually stated but it’s easy to infer). Other possible servants include CoW or Bak’al but both are tied to the corruption, (which (imo) is a side effect of the realms clashing) and not directly the darkness.
