Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

After a couple of minutes, there's still no response. Ren approaches and questions a servant, who promptly explains that every once in a while, Terrae enters a pocket dimension where there is complete isolation when he requires time to think.

 

"Who's a good boy."
He continues petting Sgavrinn.

 

Caelia cuts the connection.

 

"What's going on here?"
I say loudly, announcing my presence.

 

"The Genesians have grown more bold since they've gone underground. Is there a way they can give somebody the bravery to push onwards?"

 

I'll look around for the second safehouse.

 

"Found a crate.
Could you tell
our king when
he gets back?"

It takes an extra half hour, but you find the remains of it. It was elevated with support beams, but two of the four seem to have been cut down.

He hums, squirming a bit.

"No, they have grown more ambitious since they have recovered from the plagues brought about by the winds."

Everyone falls quiet, except for one of the guards.
"...I think you can see exactly what's going on here."

Emerald hastily links to you.
"You're not giving up on Ruby, are you?"

 

"No, I was just going to look for her." I say.

 

"Mostly. I've learned that most of the time it's bad to make assumptions, though."

 

"Plagues? Baradion has never dealt with plagues brought by the winds. How are these plagues brought by the spiritual connector of the entire world?"

 

"Certainly." The servant says, bowing.

 

I'll take a quick peek inside.

 

"Yes you are. Yes you are."
He tickles his belly.

 

"Well... she did what most beings do when their heart gets ripped out of her body."

"They're more than just spiritual. They move others as they do, including blights."

He makes a sort-of-laughing sound, squirming even more.

Two corpses, a few charred sticks, and a lot of blood soak what remains of various fabrics in the middle of the ruin.

Ren nods, soon diving back down to see if the crate is still undisturbed.

"If you're volunteering to play detective, be my guest."

 

"Turn into a Nobody?" I ask.

 

"May as well."
I look at the bodies.
"So, what do you know so far?"

 

"No, bleed out and die. You're a shadow, how the hell do you NOT get that on the first guess, you see it all the time..."

 

"Sgavrinn? I don't really know what else to do at the moment. Is there anything else in this dream?"

 

"Oh, so she's dead?" I ask.

 

"No mantis stepped foot in here other than the Matriarch, and the cut on the king is shaped perfectly like an armblade cut."
"The darts have raptor feathers and a hunting-grade tranquilizer."
"Aaand... the only one likely to know when the guards are just starting shifts is one of us."

He nods, humming again after calming down a bit.

"Congratulations, you guessed correctly." She groans.
