"Like we always do. We go to the coast and look around for him."

"Heh... you do that. I'd rather not walk around in the water."

 

"Sivius, these are humans. They are not us." Shadow Stephanie says bluntly.

 

"Milady, these are still living beings that have families and celebrate the holidays like the rest of us."

 

"I'm sure the hive master has a family too, yet nobody seems to mind killing him." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"We're not doing it during the holidays."

 

"We're not doing it because we don't have the resources to." Shadow Stephanie says flatly.

 

"Why is that? We've been there many times."

 

"It won't be the holidays when we do."

"Because I've been on your shoulder and not getting wet!" She giggles.

 

“That’s good.”
I smile.
“I was intent on teaching you, but I’m not much for house construction, even if that may be surprising.”

 

"Then do the same this time." He smiles.

 

Pause.
"What were you made for, anyways?"

Anne nuzzles you.
"Well, stand up so I can find a good position, unless you want me in your hair again!" She teases.

 

"Basic tasks to help people. My creators figured that the whole pure idea of a human helping humans in better than robots helping humans, which is why I look human."

 

"Hmm. Dissent always seems to a a problem these days."

I go to follow the soldiers

 

He stands up and lowers his body.
"Climb aboard."

 

"What counts as a basic task? Building?"

She slips off as you stand up, then hops back on once you bend down a bit.

They're marching back to the castle, prisoners in tow.

 

"Cooking, cleaning, scheduling, note-taking, shopping, to list a few. Little things that inadvertently make people lazier. I could build, but there's a fine line between knowing how to build a house and knowing how to read blueprints."

 

"So... you were built to make people lazy?"

 

I shrug.
"Built to let people be lazy. Or, at least the ones built after me were."
