Archer/Hunter The Painmaker ( Strongest Raw Archer )

hi here's the best melee archer in the game ill categorize a couple of the best/most usable builds first and then theres a section with just any random trash put together

ill make 4 different sections based on your potential budget
1: no qira, li or mythics
2: no li or mythics
3: no mythics
4: anything
ok let's start

ill put 2 builds in each section, a painmaker (max dps) and a paintaker (tankier) so you can pick whichever you like more


1. your first qira kill build
painmaker (10k dps)
paintaker (8.4k dps, all defs 200-500, 13k hp)
no hive master items, li accessories or mythics

2. going for li
painmaker (10.6k dps)
paintaker (8.5k dps, most defs over 400, 15k hp)
1 master hive included

3. got qira slain and li passed, mythics are expensive tho
painmaker (10.6k dps)
paintaker (8.5k dps, most defs over 500, 14k hp)
no mythics used

4. just fuck my shit up, fam
painmaker (12k dps, contrast considerable)
paintaker (8.5k dps, most defs over 600, 15k hp)

if there's any item you think would be a massive pain to get, lmk and ill tell you if it has alternatives

ok so now there are just a bunch of experiments. if youre interested in off-meta painmakers or assembling one yourself from scratch then go ahead and have a look at these
this section isnt updated and a lot of the builds are outdated, gamblers are nearly unobtainable in these contexts and [recommended] tags are to be disregarded

original build kinda sucked as it was the first version so i removed the beginning of this thread to make it cleaner. here's where it all started if youre interested tho

edit: a lot of these used to use cancer, which was renamed to necrosis. so if any one you click loads the build incomplete with the helmet missing just add necrosis to it

vanilla:
Stable Rainmaker [RECOMMENDED] (no poison but positive defs, you can change bracelet and neck)
The Paintaker (tank variant) [LI-less version]
The Painmaker mk. 2 (stronger and more expensive)
The Painrunner (ws focus, stable)

mythics included:
Painslayer (uses a mythic)
Painslayer mk. 2 from major iirc (even stronger slayer abusing, sp tight)
Rainslayer [RECOMMENDED] (tanky, 10k dps)
larz' stable Painslayer [RECOMMENDED] (bm abuse smh, less sp tight if you change accessories)
rose's Rainslayer (very nice defs, 10k dps, rainbow accessories smh)
Boreinmaker (untested, looks sweet af)

guest builds:
nameless by nicbomb (unstable defs, shit)
nicbomb trying to reach redemption (gambler isnt viable anymore)
some shit put together on the disc abusing bm (negative water def)
dr_flusn's dreammaker (doesnt work but i wish it did, almost the same as major's) [patched version]

oddities
ok here I just collect rainmaker builds built on a specific id, theyre barely functional but fun
life steal:
larz' Veinmaker (bm smh)
my Veinmaker (higher ls ;))

ws:
lars #1 (66% ws, a hint of ls)
larz #2 (115% ws, -water def)
painrunner (93% ws, good rainbow defs)

sp:
150 def build from larz wowie
80 def 80 agi by me (you can use shawl of gaea too thats fine)
up to 160 agi (124% ws)

powder effects:
120k chain lightning
15.8k quake per mob
quake is better for single mobs or if you can have big crowds in a mass but if the mobs are scattered around just use lightning. or be a pro and do both

 

this only works with builds that use cancer
to find out how much your raw melee damage does in chain lightning or quake damage, use the below multipliers:
chain: 3.00
quake: 4.15

so lets say youre using just the basic cancer taurus rainmaker, with max stats you have 1755 raw melee damage.
so if youre using chain, youll do 3.00 * 1755 = 5265 damage (+ poison) per mob
if youre using quake, you'll do 4.15 * 1755 = 7283 damage (+ poison) per mob

other powders dont really work with raw melee but poison gets danker
t6 courage multiplies your poison damage by 2.5
t6 wind prison doesnt do shit lol
t6 curse multiplies your poison damage by 3.1
i paid 36le in powders for this meaningless testing please appreciate it

Better hope you kill everything before it gets to you, because you won't be tanking much with those defenses...

 

well the thing is you have the accessory slots all open so take 2 uriels, an Ormrod's and a Contrast and bam you have 56% ws + speed 3 cus archer and no one will be able to catch you and +1275 hp cus contrast buff

 

o I made a new version of the Painmaker after being inspired by Major to use a Slayer in the build. this makes it a lot more expensive but raises poisonless dps by 2.3k. so that also raises the powder effect damages but quite a lot but i cant afford a slayer so not gonna bother recalculating those
here's the Painslayer (cancer gives 1700 poison dps, if you put in PH then add another 333 dps)
major suggests to use BM taurus heph slayer but fuck blue mask

 

how do you get the recovery ring?

it is sp tight. it's tanky. it has 9.7k dps + cancer's poison and it's the strongest version of Painmaker currently available. it needs 2 hive items and a near-max dex slayer but hey whatchu gonna do just be rich

it's pretty much a stabilized painmaker, no cancer tho so rip poison
it has all positive defs while still using only armour with raw melee and ws is sweet
if it's too sp tight for you, you can use another Soldier for more room to roll sp ids with or just replace the necklace with giga or smth
