Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I don't know what you're talking about, because the things I kill in video games aren't real. I'm going to go stop the hive master." I say, serious.

 

"Where's Rema?!"

 

"No, you're going to die."

Emerald links with Artemis.
"Where'd you run off to? He's in the library."

"I sent her home. What do you need her for?"

 

"I need to speak to her. About the Ziz."

 

"I know, I'm almost there." Artemis says.


"I'm not going to die, I'll be fine. I've beaten armies before without being able to possess them, this isn't much to me." I say.

 

"Excuse me? Have you noticed that this is no simple army?"

"Oh, that troublemaker? Sure, I'll have her come over."
Pause.
"...She'll be here in a minute or so."

Anne seems annoyed.
"What the hell, Bardock?!" She barks.

 

Irritated he waits for Rema's return.
"What?!"

 

"You know exactly what I'm talking about! If you don't want me around, just say so!" Anne retorts.

 

"Eh, I've faced worse." I say.

Artemis tries to tackle me, but I easily step out of the way, before avoiding the vines she tries to trap me with.

"Aj, you're not fully recovered yet! You can't face this on your own!" Artemis says as I catch her paralysis arrows.

"You're underestimating me. I can't just lie around while the hive master takes down another god!" I say.

"Who cares if he gets another god? We're safe in our reality, his mind control can't reach there!" Artemis says, "I don't want you getting hurt when you can avoid it!"

"If he gets another god then things are going to get much worse. Haven't you even considered him coming to our reality?" I ask.

"We can...We can figure out a way to sever ties with this reality if we need to! I'm not going to let him get you because you don't want his diversion to have worked on you!" Artemis shouts.

"He needs to be stopped. We can just let this reality fall into ruin while we sit around waiting to be ready. The hive master isn't going to wait for us, and he isn't going to play fair." I say, serious.

"Exactly! I don't want him cheating and managing to get to you!" Artemis says, eyes welling up a bit, "I...I don't want to lose you! I just got you back and you're going to go off and get destroyed again, or worse!?"

I pause for a moment.

 

Emerald seems to have vanished, Ihra finally catching up to you.

 

I sigh, walking over to Artemis and hugging her, who holds me tightly.

 

Ihra takes a moment to catch her breath.
"I, uh... can I make this a group hug?"

 

Artemis and I don't respond, Artemis crying a bit.

 

Ihra sighs, sitting down.
"I'm just as angry as you are, Aj, I promise... but we can't just up and throw ourselves to our deaths like the Hive Master does his minions. We've got all these people counting on us... he doesn't."

 

After a short while, Artemis and I finally stop hugging, Artemis smiling lightly as I wipe away her tears.

"I'll stay back a bit. We don't need to get in over our heads." I say.

"T-Thanks." Artemis says, smiling at me.

 

Ihra smiles.

Emerald reappears, returning to her books.
"You know, I think it might help if you gathered a few more friends where you've already been. I'm sure there's a handful of creatures who would be honored to fight with you... or for you, seeing as having one deathball of friends can only cover so much ground at a time."

 

"You mean at Gaia's place?" I ask.

 

"Yes, but not just there. You don't need super-elite people doing everything; have you considered that having Ali start a conversation over dinner might be just as effective as a recruiting method than telling people about all the terrible things the Hive Master has done, thus throwing them into depression and hoping their despair turns to rage and conviction?"

 

"I've been meaning to have that dinner with her, but everyone's always been busy, and now Katie's missing and Abigail's a Nobody." I say.

 

"I... think she just gave up and donated the food to the raptors and mantis on Maralune." Emerald comments, shrugging.
