This hound was intended to be ridiculously tough, and I like the concept of taking damage upon making the save. It's rather odd, considering you can either risk taking more damage or risk staying frightened, but I like the sadistic choice mechanic it has. Do you take the damage, or do you stay frightened?

 

Last time you attacked the hound, not a node.

Do you attack the hound? You definitely hit with a NAT 20.

Here's your options:

1) Attack the hound. The current health pool is low, so you will kill that pool, but only half of the remaining damage will carry over

2) Attack a node. Nodes have low HP, so a lot of the damage would be wasted


I recommend attacking the hound, but you can attack a node if you want (In any case, you need to move to the right a little bit)

While Mike Mearls was talking about Mind Flayers on D&D Beyond, he mentioned Crystal Spheres. They are a thing from Spelljammer. Knowing that these also exist in 5e makes it possible to work with them, space in general, and do world-hopping stuff
