"You're gonna make it up to us. For me, Gram and all the others you hurt."

 

"Yes, though it can't be helped." Vexa says, crossing her arms.

 

"I did apologize for it, didn't I?" Ruby asks, smiling. "You don't seem like the type who would need weapons to cut down rogue demigods anyways."

She tilts her head slightly.
"I am? How so?"

 

"Years ago, dragons perhaps, though not now. It was more the humans hunting them that needed the weapons however, we needed our own to kill the humans." Vexa says.

 

"Well, if you're over the dragon hunting, I got a little something for you. I forgot if I already gave you one, but..."
Ruby hands Vexa a crystal library hard with an amorphous name on it.
"...If you wish to study a bit from my sister's library, you may. I think you may be stunned at the sheer scale. The card allows borrowing of ten books at once, and the books will automatically return themselves to the shelves after a month, even if you lose them."

 

"Oh, thank you, Ruby." Vexa says, smiling.

 

"Do you want to see it for yourself, or should I give you an idea of how big it is?" Ruby asks.

 

"I guess I have some time to see it." Vexa shrugs.

 

"Hold the card to your chest, and don't get lost. I'll hold down the shop. Just think about getting back to leave."

 

Vexa seems a little skeptical at first before putting the card to her chest.

 

"Due to you, Gram might be spending the rest of his live on the surgery table."
Pause
"I say, for those who lost their houses, you're going to help them rebuild them."

 

She finds herself facing a normal front desk surrounded by skyscraping bookshelves chock-full of books. A massive spiral staircase stretches to the ceiling, and a mix of creatures can be seen reading, including shadows, draconians, guardians, fae, dryads...

Above the desk, an emerald scaled draconian levitates with a few dozen books, all of them being written in telekinetically.
"Another new cardholder? It's nice to meet you... Miss Vexa?"

"I intended to... but not for those who lost their homes."

 

"Excuse me?!"

 

"I intended to build a new kingdom in these scorched ruins."

 

"What kind of kingdom..?"
He seems irritated.

 

"A kingdom of my own. A place where my children can be safe and never worry about being killed for their differences."

 

"So you'r only thinking of yourself?! What about the people who lost their houses, creatures that died, families that got destroyed?!"
He gets angry and forms 2 fists.

 

"They took my children's houses, destroyed their families, took their lives. I do not regret showing them the pain they gave my children, and me."

 

"Uh, yes. Where am I?" Vexa asks, hand on her sheathed sword.

 

"You are in my library. I am Emerald, head librarian and archivist here in the Void Palace. Is there anything I can help you with today?" She asks, flicking a claw and reshelving a few books.
