How Does Poison Status Work

Hi im new to this game and i've joined as an assassin and i've recently dropped an helmet with the stat "160/3s poison" i have also a weapon that has "89/3s Poison" in the weapon case it does apply on the enemy hit but the one on the helmet applies on me anyone can explain to me how does it work?

 

When you hit an enemy, every 3 seconds the mob will take 89 poison damage with your dagger.

 

It does the stated amount of damage over 3 seconds

 

in understand that but why the helmet does inflict me damage? is has 2 "**" next to the stat and i have another dagger that only has 1 "*"

 

It doesn’t hurt you
The total poison you have is dealt to a mob over three seconds
If you have 249/3 poison in total, it will deal 83 damage every second for three seconds
It won’t hurt you at all

 

The stars are how good the identification is. For example, if you could get 10/3 poison on an item and you have 9, you'll probably get 2 stars. About the damage you're taking, does your helmet have -life steal?

 

It may be that your helmet has a negative hp regen, which just means that you'll lose health over time. What helmet and dagger do you have?

 

Can you tell us what your helmet name is? it might help us, also the way poison works has been explained above, if you have poison on some of your items then it will only hit your enemy, not you don't worry

 

yeah my bad i didn't know that hp regen can go negative and actually take away your hp. I mean it's the first time that i see a stat going negative on an mmorpg or at least a stat like hp regen thanks again for the help. One last thing what does * or ** after a stat means?

also its been said above, but basically its to tell you how good the stat is, on a max stat thingie, there will be 3 stars, on a low stat thingie there will be 0 and 1 or 2 stars is between the 2 ;)

But you don't need to stop playing. The shops in the various towns may not have the best weapons, but they can be fairly decent, until you find a better one.

You can always buy it off someone, or get it for free if you find someone nice. What was the weapon/ Armor btw?
