"...Seriously, relax."


"My name's Miorah. Gaia's right-hand."

He sputters a bit before drinking most of the water you pour in.
"A-a little advance warning next time would be nice..."

 

"Right. Sorry."
He pours a little slower.

 

Abigail tries to calm down.


"Shadow Stephanie, queen of the Realm of Shadows and it's head kingdom." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

The quiver empties.

Ruby starts slowing her racing mind, trying to calm herself and Abigail.


"Head kingdom? There are others?"

 

"Okay. I have some food left. If you want some more, carefully take them from the basket because I want to return it later. I'll go get some more water if you want."

 

"Is the fox still here?"

 

"No, she's searching for some moss."

 

"Devarra, Raygyon said you mentioned the elders. Do you have news about their situation?"

 

Abigail calms down a little.


"What, you think this entire realm filled with Shadows is just one large kingdom on a desolate planet? Of course there are other kingdoms! There are some in this country and others in the other countries. There are smaller towns too, though they generally have to put up with more beasts attacking." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

I attempt to shimmy my way out of the string.

 

You can't, but if you work at it, you might be able to loosen the knot.

She lands near the smithy, rushing inside.


"I meant, one empire."

"I haven't heard from any of them since you tried to attack Solis."

"What do you want moss for?"

 

"Oh.. Just to cover our ears against your snoring." He laughs.

 

Vexa's working in the back, as usual.


"Eh, sort of." Shadow Stephanie shrugs.

 

"Do you think Solis is still mad at me? I feel that acting rash may have been a trait I wish to expel."

 

I attempt to do that.

 

"Hey, boss? I gotta go. Again. Probably for a lot longer."


"Well... maybe I'll have to sit in Emerald's library and see if she has anything on this place. It's strange for me to willingly go somewhere as hostile as this realm. Yeah, that's my fault, but still... this place can give meaning to 'curiosity killed the cat.'"

"Snoring, huh? Hmph... I'd love to get some sleep."

It's hard to tell if you're making any progress; it's like trying to take off a necklace that's too tight.
You can cut through the string with enough pressure, but you'll hurt yourself. The others are shifting to the spectral plane too fast to give you time to untie it normally, at this rate.

"I don't think he ever was mad at you. The elders think we're all rash."

 

"I see. I have plans to approach the village again with a soldier company. The elders have allowed us to set camp in the forest."

 

"You can go ahead with the company, but you'll have to wait on the visit. Solis came by personally and asked Ragnyon and her mount to come to his village."
Devarra smiles and scratches the dragon's chin, who replies with a happy hum and nuzzles her.
"Isn't that right, you big, scaly baby? The gryphon wanted to see you, didn't he?" She says in a babyish tone, the dragon rolling over on its back in response.

 

"You and me both."
He looks at the basket.
"You had enough, for now?"

 

"Oh, really? Well, that's a shame. I hope you have fun doing what you need to do." Vexa says, sounding saddened yet positive.


"Satisfaction won't bring you back." Shadow Stephanie comments.
