    Yeah

Well in the old ‘Out of My Mind’ Ariodo (I think) created the mind swapping machine. I believe his old lab still exists, although it’s debatable whether that’s canon. If it is, it’s possible (although very unlikely) that Bob got his mind swapped into a younger body.

Yeah. Now that I think about it more, it doesn't make sense. For example, if it were true, all other forms of memory entering are connected with the decay in Gavel, or in the case of Haven antiquity using a ritual. We don't see either of those at Skeins, and even then, in all of those cases it involved traveling back and experiencing the full memory, instead of a piece of the memory coming to the present. So that probably isn't it.

    Yeah.

But it's important to figure out. The ghost is the key to figuring out why Skien is alive again but not undead. My money is on Dern stuff, but the coloring of the Ghost doesn't fit.

It's interesting how all three of these quests have something to do with Dern/the Eye (if they are involved in the decay). (already been mentioned oops)
Taproot has the worm-thing which appeared 1,000 years ago, around the same time as the decay started. It is all but confirmed that this thing was one of the reasons why the decay manifested.
Haven Antiquity you have (I think) the Dern Beast (although that might've been removed or something idk I haven't done the quest in a long time) and the Dern Emigrants. They left Dern, although not to specifically live in Wynn (if the ocean counts as wynn. There are also the Ancients who appear to have come from Dern and settled in Wynn).
In Memory Paranoia you have the whole possession thing. It's very likely that Mr. Caritat is talking about the Eye and the corruption of the RoL. Who the servant he talks about might be the eye or the worm-thing (assuming the Eye is not the main entity causing the decay).

I find the items you need to access Yahya's basement are really interesting. The small mushroom makes sense as he is obsessed with mushrooms. The painting of the mushroom, sort of, it's got a mushroom on it (although since it's basically an unloaded painting maybe it's like covered or something in the game world. Is there a reason why Yahya wouldn't want to see it? Maybe I'm thinking too hard about this). The painting also comes from Skien's Island. Is that in some way important? And finally, the Black Spoon, from Memory Paranoia. As far as I can tell the spoon shoots out dark sorcery (and possibly summoned the Nightmare, although there is no reason given as to why the Nightmare comes - it might be as side effect of the possession). It is possibly Dernic in nature. Also, why does Mr. Caritat have it and where'd he get it? If Villagers just.. don't talk about Dern, then why the interest in something so obviously taboo. Especially considering he has a wife and kid. It's possible that Mr. Caritat was possessed before he acquired the spoon.
Why does Yahya want the spoon anyway? It's possible that he showed an interest in it before he went mad - it's also possible that he was interested in Skien's island too, although the item we pick up from there has something to do with his obsession. Perhaps he was not completely crazy at this point and still retained a vaguely sound mind.
This brings me to the basement underneath Yahya's house. If he went insane in the meteor, then why (and, let's be honest, how) would he build the basement? It obviously has some traces of his obsession, with the first two puzzles involving mushrooms in some way. The basement also opens up into Nohno's house. Why? I believe there was some dialogue saying that there was a disagreement between them but I can't find it so I'm probably mistaken. And why does Nilrem bring Chuckles to Nohno (an obviously deranged man's) house?

You need to be careful with terminology. Each realm has a "beast" that's the physical embodiment of the realm. The monsters on Dead Island are called Dern Beasts, but they are different than The Dern Beast, which is also different than the monster that Bob fought on Dead Island.

Also, there are no longer Dern Emigrants. That was back when it was Enderman Island

I think there must be something about it's connection to Skien. Why did he flip out about this painting in specific, above all other stuff?

That's the big mystery. It obviously has some dark Dernic connection, so why does it connect to ???... ??? deals with, as the quest Purple and Blue put it, Cosmic Magic. Cosmic Magic is, according to Purple and Blue, the "least studied of all magic". But, we also know there's different types of Cosmic Magic (Red and Black, Purple and Blue, White and Blue, White). So how does this quest about Cosmic Magic have ties to both Skien and The Eye (which is assumedly behind all the Memory Paranoia stuff).

I think just nothing is known. The llevigar Library mentions it in it's "lore of the provinces" but provides no actual info on it. And from the Wynn side, the mines where contact was first made were sealed up and abandoned...

    The million dollar question

All good questions. I am still only level 78, not high enough for ???. But, those are good questions. I feel like the point of appearing at Nohno's house is to make it even more clear like yo, we are brothers.

As for Nilrem bringing Chuckles there, I mean, he likes Chickens. And he was once one of the greatest minds in Gavel...

    ---

    Alternate Theory:

This is pulling from the DnD side of my mind. But Nightmares, Paranoia, Maddness, they all seem like things from some Eldritch entity. Most of these entities, even in Lovecraftian lore, live beyond the stars. Now, tie this in with Falling Stars, Meteors, Cosmic Magic, heck, even a lot of our "darkness" connections be twisted to be the Void of Space instead of Dern. Which could even somehow connect to the Floating Islands...

But, that's just a little thought train that really leads nowehre.

    Cosmic horror ;)

Ok honestly that would be awesome

What bothers me is that the lore on the sky islands are so vague. Like, the sky islands shattered, and according to the fable found in the Fortuneteller, it was because of.. idk, like it mentions a shattering or something then the Villagers were greedy..? And then the dragon (it describes it as beast) leaves “the people with all the riches in the world but no land to enjoy it with.” This sorta implies that the dragon (Ok technically the fable never mentions a dragon, just a “beast” but from the dialogue of the dragon we can confirm that the “beast” the fable mentions is in fact the dragon) shattered the Ahms region.
The void people say that the Ahms region “ruptured.” Like a balloon -perhaps from an overflow of something. And the void made them immortal. They also use a crystal to power their society. It might be a crystal similar to that of the ones in Wynnexcavation. There are also some similar coloured crystals in the scientist’s office (the one who originally lost the crystal in 1k meters under).

    That's because it's torn out.
I wonder who didn't want people to know about Dern.
So the dragon gives you a book which is the key to the Llevigar library. If we assume the decay and the shattering of the sky islands coincide, then the library must've been there before all that. This means that someone tore the pages on Dern before the decay (unless someone somehow found a way to break in - maybe during Heart of Llevigar? We know that it was possible for someone to steal the parts for the Quartron during that.

    Yep.
The wiki doesn't actually list the fable, but it can be found in Seb's quest guide. Heep just skips over it :c

Also of note: the dragon in the Fortuneteller is named Farcor, most likely a reference to The Neverending Story and Falkor, a luckdragon.

I was thinking the OTHER library. But true, that also doesn't give any info...

Do you have a link to that? I checked the wiki, and as you said, no help. IDK who Seb or Heep are...

Wait, but the dragon said (according to the wiki) he watched the Doguns fall and the Forest Guardian go into his sleep. We know the Forest Guardian started his slumber a LONG time ago, but the Doguns happened sometime WITHIN the last 1000 years, as the Guradian did not know about it when you first woke him up.

That being said, the dragon (and thereby, the library key) didn't disappear until well after the -1000 year mark. Does that change your thoughts?

The forest guardian started its slumber 200 years ago. From its dialogue we can assume the Dogun war happened during the last 200 years.
The dragon says he left Gavel eons ago. He (?) also mentions that the forest guardian slept for millenia, but the decay has only been around for one.

Also the lore in the Llevigar Library refers to pretty recent parts of history, even mentioning Bob. I wonder why the dragon has a key to it.
