Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Yeah... I really don't like that you're forgetting things instead of remembering them."


"I figured a thank you and a request or two was in order, but I figure both can go on the backburner if you'd prefer."

 

"Me too!" Abigail says, suddenly scared.


"Request?" Shadow Stephanie asks, barely raising an eyebrow

 

Ruby takes off and heads back to Vexa's smithy.
"I'm gonna go ask around and see if I can keep you from slipping. Hang in there, you hear me?"


"Yeah. You know, a trade that screws me over. Same thing you did with Emerald? Ask for help and offer mutual growth. I figure this place is a bit down and dreary. I was thinking maybe you'd be interested in a few hundred low-light plants to add some color to this place? Maybe a few tricks and twists to make your pseudo-dryads more effective at what they do?"

 

"Ok, I'll try." Abigail says.


"I guess you must've missed the gardens outside, though knowing your kind, you were probably too on edge looking for a wild lumberjack coming to chop you in half and use you for warmth." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

Ruby dulls Abigail's senses except for sight as she flies back, making the trip as fast as she can.


She rolls her eyes.
"You're one of the proud ones then, eh? I can't believe Sivius broke his rule for you of all queens."

 

Abigail just seems scared.


"I can't believe you're actually attempting to insult me. Keep trying, you're amusing. Don't quit your day job of standing still in a forest though, those birds need something to shit on after all." Shadow Stephanie retorts.

 

"Just hold on... just hold on..." Seems to be all Ruby can think about.


A flower sprouts from her palm.
"Mhmm. I'm sure Lady Gaia would like to have words with you about that insult, but instead you get me. Have you ever considered that maybe getting off your ass would've saved both my people and Aj? I might not like you demons much, but your strength has spoken."
Pause.
"Any more harsh words you have for me before I ignore this introduction and get on to business?"

 

"I...can't remember what I'm supposed to." Abigail says, scared.


"Well, if getting off my ass could've saved your people, and you're all like this, then I have no regrets not getting off my ass." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"Can you teach me to read the signs?"

I begin to get more annoyed with Raygyon

 

"Thank you.." He smiles and lays back down.

"Do you at least still remember your name?"


"On the plus side, I'm the only one like this. I'll start small - Liz vanished about the same time your friends showed up first. Do you know what they did with her? Small faerie, electric affinity..."

"I can, but you're going to have to get over your distrust of me."

As you wait, your body starts to go limp and your vision of the physical plane starts to fade. However, as the walls of the safehouse begin to fade out of view, you notice that the other demon and her entourage are also working on their transition to the spectral plane.
If you're quick, you might be able to destroy her soul before she can defend herself.

Gram lets out a quieter moan, shifting a bit.

 

"Abigail, right?" Abigail asks.


"Hospital. Aj brought her here after she assisted us in the battle. She should be healed by now." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"Alright. If this is what you require, I will trust you. Now, shall we begin the lesson?"

 

He softly pats Gram on his head.
"You're too loud you know."
He lays down next to Gram.

 

"Yes, correct." Ruby thinks, somewhat relieved.


"She assisted you in battle?" The dryad asks, suddenly taking Shadow Stephanie much more seriously.

"C-can't... really help it..."

She pauses, then shakes her head.
"No. I don't want you to force yourself to trust me. Besides, you have other matters to attend to, no? Devarra mentioned something about you and a group of elders. The future will always wait; such is it's nature."

 

"Oh.. you're awake? How are you feeling?"

 

"And...you're...a gem?" Abigail asks.


"Yeah, Aj stopped her from dying and she flew around helping us. Honestly, things could've gone much worse without her." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"Close. I'm named after a gem."


"So... you used a child as a weapon and are nursing it back to health? What exactly do you intend to do with her now?"

"D-do the groans not g-give you any hints?"

 

"That's what I meant." Abigail says.


"Drain her of her blood, remove her wings and use them in alchemy, sell her flesh as a delicacy and crush her bones down into a fine powdered drug." Shadow Stephanie says, though clearly not being serious.
