Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I would. I hope that what you find does not disappoint."

I clear my mind in anticipation

 

"I can't blame you... I don't think Rema's help will be coming until morning, though..."

She nods.
"Do not clear your mind. Do not prepare for anything - all of these actions cloud the future." She says, blood running up her staff towards the crystal ball as crimson wisps slowly begin to become discolored and eventually form a vague image of a forest.

 

"I see a forest. It looks like a serene place. I feel calm in here. Where to from here?"

 

"I'm just... really tired. I'm gonna try to get some sleep."

 

"I cannot tell you. The most powerful prophets can share visions not just by voice, but as they see."

The forest clears, and it winds up being barren with the sky being a tint of sickly green.
"What do you see in this image? Interpreting the future is the other half of what I want to ensure you know before I pass on."

Gram groans again.
"...Maybe I should just put him in a coma? I could go for some sleep."

 

"Uh... I don't think that's an option. For all we know he could be in coma, for forever."

 

"I see a barren forest now, and the sky has gone green. I know only of one forest like this. Could this happen to Phykrah?"

 

"You're always welcome here." Gaia says happily.

 

"That's called being dead... and you're right, I don't want to risk that."

"I appreciate it, but you know I'll return. I can't just leave my children to become... his... playthings."

"You must look beyond what the crystal ball shows..."
She closes her eyes.
"...The very skies you worship will turn in time, and it would seem the fate of this place... Phykrah, you call it... is grim. Ignorance seems to be the root of this, so if you would like to defy this fate, as many would, I suggest you reach out to those who have turned to live underground."
Pause.
"In fact, the cause of the withering appears to be their extermination."

 

"Yeah. Let's just find something to put in our ears or something."

 

"Don't let him get you too, then." Gaia says.

 

"The underground has been gone for years, what do you-"

In the crystal ball, I see a tunnel in the forest

"I see. I know my path now. I must reach the underground, and stop this corruption of my home."

 

Are they still outside.

 

"Moss or something? I could dry some out if you find it..."

They're still outside.

"No, not yet. I have much to teach you, and perhaps you could teach me a bit about the ways of life here."

She nods.
"Sometimes, when I'm sitting alone, I wonder one thing... why is he so resentful? Regardless, he's crossed many lines, and it's gone too far."

 

"Some people's hearts can be blackened by hatred so strong, they can never be healed. All they can do is hate until their hearts simply cannot go on anymore." Gaia says, sighing.

 

"I guess.. but I'm to tired to even try." He smiles.

 

"I understand I must not go now, but ultimately, my journey will lead me below. But first, yes, I have much to learn. Shall we begin the first lesson?"

 

I'm sure they won't be anticipating a surprise visit from the spiritual plane.


Or at least I can get a better idea of what is going on outside.

 

She nods.
"...You were going to finish up here? I don't mean to hold you up more than I have been."

Either way, it's only a few minutes before the sun sets fully and spirits come out to play...

"Sure. What would you like to work on first?"

She sighs.
"I'll go try and find some." She says, sliding down Gram's wing and trotting off.

 

"Sorry... it's just... I haven't slept for a long time.. and you kinda did."
