That's the thing. Corruption hasn't shown to be able to do that, nor does anything else about the Island show Corruption

also whaddya mean it doesn't show anything about corruption? the soldiers are undead and the guy in selchar who points the island out to you says it's the only corrupted island in the ocean.

The guy in Selchar thinks its corrupted, just as you currently do. That's the "normal" assumption

But look at what the dude says via signs. The soldiers died and came back to life, yes. But they are not zombies. They are not skeletons. They are not a mumbling horde. They seem to be more hollow and more depressed, but they show no signs of the typical undeath that the Corruption brings on. They still were able to carry out their normal functions. The dude himself says that they died and came back to life, but they were not undead in the sense of Corruption undead."

...I have no idea which sign says it's not corruption related.

    Also, Locrian's flavour text:

Skien's trust in others was shattered permanently by the wielder of this dagger, who fell to the corruption and attacked his legion during a great corrupted siege.

Skien used to fight in the Troms military against the corruption (no clue where that lore comes from, but trust me, it's somewhere). Eventually, he got fed up with fighting the corruption (as you see in Locrian's lore, he lost trust in others) and went to his island, where he SOMEHOW developed a hate for Villagers.

So yes, he has connections with Corruption, but that's old history

I'm pretty sure signs on his island suggest he was sane when he came there, and that he went insane while there.
also Sotqin visited him while he was on his island, so if you see them as being the Traitor then that's a thing but that's just a minor point.

I need to revisit the lore, but I know AT LEAST the soldiers on the island are not your typical undead

All the other stuff I'll double check on

I need to double check when I have a chance. I've been around Wynn recently, both grinding at ToL and going to the areas with ghost reportings, but I have not managed to go to Skiens yet. When I do, I will make sure to check

Skien's lore is generally complete; you just have to sort all the information on him found through the signs and what not.

There are threads on the forums that have compiled this information.

What is this theory that you're working on about? If I guessed right, it's to do with another force (maybe Dernic in origin) being at work in Wynn (i.e. the province not the server) which is stuff to do with ghosts and stuff, not zombies and stuff. It's obviously less obvious than the Corruption, but is possibly behind things like the Decrepit Sewers? It's also possibly at work in Gavel, more so than in Wynn at the moment, for example, and most noticeably, in the Kander forest area and the Dullahan prison seen in Forbidden Prison. Am I right at all? I mean, the ghosts bit is fairly intuitive from the whole thread.

    Close, but no.

I'm actually just trying to figure out what the actual sh*t f*ck is happening in Eye of the Storm

You see, we were told VERY CLEARLY that there's no undead in Gavel, instead, we would be facing magical creatures and stuff, right? Remember that?

Well, then explain all the Wraiths, Ghouls, Ghosts, Spectres, Banshees, Wights, and other undead found in the Dark and Kander forests. We know the Decay kills stuff, but we havn't been told about it bringing spirits back from the dead.

So basically if these incorporeal undead are not natural to Gavel, nor spawned by the Decay (which I still need to prove), then where are they coming from?

    -

Throw in EotS. That quest everyone hates because it's long and boring? Yeah, I hate it because I don't understand it. What is ACTUALLY causing it? What force?

Eye of Blood comes from the jungles of Wynn. Eye, Jungle, it's obviously a Dernic/Ancients connection. Throw in the demon prince coming from the Realm of Shadows, you have a pretty good argument about the stuff there being Darkness.

But, Eye of Blood. Blood is more a savage thing like the Corruption, not the mystic darkness of, well, Darkness. And, the eye comes from Wynn, where the corruption is. And, look at the area it's set in. The Pit of Dispair. The blocks used to build it are netherack, obsidian, and literally all the blocks used to build corrupted areas. The color scheme matches Corruption, not Darkness.

    So... What is it?

Well, I got very interested when going down the Pit of Dispair. All going down it, what mob guards it? Spectres (Specters? Eh, spelling). These spectres are incorporeal undead, like seen in the nearby areas. The sheer amount of them there implies that the Incorporeal undead in the nearby areas is originating from this, the Pit of Dispair.

We KNOW 100% NOT A SINGLE EFFING DOUBT that Darkness and Dernic stuff has direct connections with Soul stuff (which are basically our incorporeal undead), as that's basically the foundation of the Twain lore. So, I would like to say that boom, it's Darkness/Dernic stuff, done deal.

But, before I can do that, I need to see if there are cases of corruption causing incorporeal undead. If there isn't any, and all the ghosts and phantoms and stuff are only seen in areas of Dernic/Dark influence, like the Twain mansion, then boom, done deal.

But, since by merit of this post I now have confirmation of ghosts around (at the very least in the Decrepit Sewers) we know Corruption CAN cause this, which make this a whole lot harder.

(Not to mention the stuff in Pit of the Dead are souls of corrupted miners, but something just seems off about it. The color scheme, the random trees in the cave, something seems off)

    -

So yeah, basically I'm trying to make a theory that answers two questions (EotS and Ghosts) by referencing each other...
