Spoiler: Detect Magic

You notice two things.

1) The knife is not magical itself but has faint traces of Transmutation Magic

2) Heat's Badge has Evocation Magic coming off of it

(Detect Magic has a 30 ft range, so you also picked up Heat's badge)

 

Alth:"i have some slightly good news and a lot more bad news"
Alth:"the spell fabracte requires a large amount of magic to use aswell as the person knowing how to make something"
Alth:"so were looking for someone who has a lot of magic and can make knives"

 

That's literally what I said in the spoiler

 

Alth:"heat do you know which school of magic the person who made your badge studied in?"
Alth:"on second thought forget that that's just your bade's magic"

 

Heat: "That's it?"

Heat: "I bought it off a merchant in the last city. They seemed eager to sell it to me."

 

Alth:"yup... That's all i can tell"
Alth:"wait there's one more thing"
Alth:"the person would have to been about 120 feet or closer to be able to cast it directly into your arm"

I go to the window and look put is there anything in the street?

 

Heat: "Why do you mention the badge? Is there something wrong with it?"

 

Alth:"no just some evocation magic coming of it though that should be normal comsiderimg evocation ipusually hasnto do with elemental stuff"

 

Heat: "That makes sense."

 

Can I wake up by now?

 

Yep

 

I wake up, yawning, taking some time to put on my shoes and look around.

 

Heat: "Good day, Caligo."

 

Caligo: "Good morn'. You two up to anything, yet?"

 

Heat: "I knife was stuck in between two metal plates on my arm with a piece of paper hanging from it. Another riddle."

I hand Caligo the paper, which reads: "To get what belongs to you, use what belongs to me. In the place what is lost, find a stone key."

 

Caligo: "What, so someone just silently broke in and stabbed you during the night?"
I ask, reading the paper.

 

Alth:"yup... Except no one saw anything"

 

Heat: "Althiaos detected magic leading to the theory that the knife was formed into my arm."

 

Caligo: "Yeah, I figured."

Caligo: "You think it's this magic guy we're after?"

 

Heat: "Yes, and they intentionally found our inn room and stuck a knife into me. This is unlike the paper that we found on their door because now they know that we are looking for them.."

"We are being targetted and whoever this 'Magic guy' is knows that Ti'Lin has lost his necklace."
