"That's not motive behind crime, that's motive behind getting drunk. If I go to a party, get drunk, and wind up accidentally shooting someone because I am drunk, there's no motive behind shooting someone, which would be a crime, but there is motive behind drinking, which, in this scenario, is legal."

 

"They call it a crime, yet it is an accident."

 

"Mmhmm."
He nods.
"Which is why I said, 'depending on where you live', because different place have different rules."

 

"The rules only define what people call crimes. What is or isn't a crime is fixed, but perspective changes."

 

"Then who's to say what is and isn't a crime?"

 

"I believe you can get no closer to true justice than the word of Virei'tus himself."

 

"Fair enough."
Another sip.

 

"His code is what I use to decide which side of a case I should take emotionally. I usually stay away from the lawyer-y things."

 

"I see. You're welcome to stay, but again, the rules apply. You may only speak to those who I deem are allowed. I'll allocate some servants for you, and you'll be welcome here for the week."

 

"He's got a code for emotion as well?"

 

She nods.
"You might have a difficult time getting my mount to obey, but I'm sure I can make do."

"No. I'm saying that I use his code to decide how I feel about a case."

 

"Mm."
Voidfiller nods.

 

"Anything else I can do for you while you're here?"

 

Voidfiller shrugs.
"It's nice around here. I'll finish the tea, if you don't mind."

 

"I'll leave you the pot if you'd like."

 

"Happily."
He smiles, nodding.

 

"I see. We better find a place for you to stay; being out in the winds at night is quite troubling."

 

"I don't have much, but feel free to look around a bit. I should get some rest sooner or later."

"I'm sure we'll be okay. Winds may bring omens here, but we are no strangers to waking up next to a now dead companion."

 

"Now dead? What do you mean? What happened in your past, if I may ask?"

 

"Alright. I won't steal anything, promise."
