Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"There's faeries around here?"
He asks.

 

"What, like the centaur village or something? Or rather Aurilon?"

 

"Yes, especially around here. I've done what I can to make up for the fact I'm a shadow."

Aurilon or Vyraxis, your call. Plenty of hiding places and grazing grounds there, we're bound to find something.

"Inhospitable? You call this beautiful land inhospitable?" She asks, surprised.
The dragon grows a flower and eats it, mind wandering.

 

"Aren't you one of Emerald's sisters, though? That's a dumb way of putting it, but the question stands."

 

"Yeah... though if you want to get into the details, I was. Lady Tenebrae offered me respite from my curse in exchange for my life. I had been living in the Realm of Shadows for years, so I figured there were no downsides in accepting. I had forgotten what it felt like to truly be alive, anyways."

 

"Pfff.. Vyraxis is on the other side of the island. If I want to stay close to Gram, it's better to go to Aurilon then."

 

"What was your curse?"

 

Then go to Aurilon. Maybe get a few crops, if there's any spare in the villages.

"I was cursed to an amorphous body of darkness. It was easy to pass off as a shadow, though when I applied for a job at the palace detective agency, it became obvious I wasn't actually a shadow. Real shadows can empower other beings and cannot become part of other shadows without one consuming the other. I could hide in shadows unchecked, but could not empower other beings. Lady Tenebrae allowed me to keep the trait after turning me into a legitimate shadow, which means I can hide in any being of my choosing whilst being completely undetectable, lest I want to be found. I can also empower non-shadows."

 

"Well it's probably less inviting if you're just a bunch of darkness anyways."

 

"I do kind of wonder if I should've held on. You know, do the things my siblings and I used to do before everything started to suck. Part of me hates myself for throwing any chance of that away, knowing there's no way to go back."

 

"What were you like before you got cursed?"

 

"Worked as a detective. Snuffed out anomalies in archives and reports. Never did anything as dirt easy as the stuff the Shadow Palace had me doing."

 

"Yeah, I heard about that. Either you're really good at not being known or that was just a case of 'I need someone to do it'."

 

"My king had no idea I had been tracking local gang activity for years. I had information on many shadows, and was aware of his secret superweapon project not long after it started."

 

"Secret superweapon? It hasn't got a name?"

 

"Let's go to Aurilon then."
He heads into that direction.

 

"It has a name, and I think you know it."

Your inner beast stays silent for the walk.

The clouds start to more fully part. The storm's over.

 

"Hey look, the storm is over. Looks like Rema pulled it off."

 

The tea has a strong herbal taste, with a hint of fruit to it. It feels relaxing, yet refreshing.

 

"The castle was built on one of the more abundant pieces of land. A lot of Phykrah is open plains with winds gusting so hard all buildings get blown over before they start. That's why we're in the mountains; they shield us from most of the wind."
