"Clearly you need help for this, since you almost trampled a guard on your way in." She sighs, putting a rag over the wound.
"...You might need to go to surgery. If you want to talk with important people tonight, we'll need to get your head out of the clouds."

 

"Satisfaction."
He shrugs.
"I get bored of stabbing people, or making the ground disappear from under them, or mind-melting. Sawing someone to death is so much more satisfying."

 

"Many people usually go with burning alive, being eaten from the inside out, or corrosive toxins for torturous deaths." She shrugs.

 

"Well, that falls under the category of just making a portal under them and dropping them wherever. There are many ways to do a torturous death, the satisfaction comes from it being fun. I've worked as a prison torturer, shit gets old."

 

"Fair enough."
Pause.
"You know, for someone as sadistic as you, you sure put a lot of happiness and innocence in Crystal."

 

Voidfiller chuckles.
"No I didn't. He puts happiness into himself. It's the pure wonder of the world that only a living, thinking being can experience that drove the creation of Crystal. Half of the stuff I've ever told him were terrible things about the world and every time he just thinks a bit and goes, 'Well, that's dumb. Just be nicer, and it should work out.'"

 

"I see. I'll make my way there now, I suppose."

 

"Heh... nature's fickle, isn't it?"

"I'll walk you over there... I don't trust you to get there on your own right now." She says, helping you stand up.

 

“Quite.”
Voidfiller nods.
“How long have you been Gaia’s first-hand?”

 

"Thank you, it's appreciated."

I begin to walk slowly towards the surgeon

 

"Ofcourse not."

 

"Hey! You're me but from a different reality, right?" Gaia asks happily.

 

"I've really only been her first-hand since the start of the war. My predecessor was assassinated, and I was the only one foolish enough to step back up onto her place in the moment."

"Yeah... Gaia, right? Seems to be an omniuniversal name." She says, looking up.

Neither would I. That doesn't explain why Anne's so distressed. Any guesses on that count?

The clouds seem to be turning slightly less grey and stormy.

You see yourself walking at a wall, though the nurse leads you straight through it...
You must've used a lot of those herbs, since now you're seeing Nemmek standing inside the castle walls.

 

"I do find it quite strange that we're the only gods to share names across realities though." Gaia says.

 

"She cares. She knows I don't have much family left." He thinks.
He looks at the sky.
"Look Anne, the storm seems to lay down a bit."

 

“Foolish? You mean you don’t like the job?”

 

That's why you love her, isn't it?

She looks up, exhaling.
"Okay, good sign. Let's hope it keeps getting better."

"No, I didn't care that I wound up needing to avoid a few dozen assassination attempts."

"I'd give it more thought, but I'm not exactly in the position to, at the moment."

 

"Gaia, I was hoping you'd be able to help your alternate form. She's been badly wounded in a form which seems to be associated with Earth. Perhaps you could 'heal' her." Tenebrae says to the Gaia of her reality.

"I could give it a shot." Gaia says, her hair and eyes changing to a muddy brown.

 

"Yep. She may not look like it, but she cares." He smiles.

"It sure does look like things are getting better."

 

"Figure you can't get much worse. I'm just glad your children are alive..."

She definitely doesn't look like it...

"Well... hopefully it keeps going this direction."
