Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“Do you numbskulls have any gray matter left in here at all?”
The draconian’s head starts to hurt.

 

She tries to throw herself through one of the portals that they came from.


The phoenix soon returns attention to the elites and Gaia.
"Now...

"Robots don't."
A killbot probably isn't programmed to feel pain.

 

The portals barely last long enough to let the creatures through, far too small for Sapphire to get through even without the creature coming through it.


"Why are you working for the Hive Master!?" Aeris asks.

 

She collapses, body spilling no blood.


"Strength talks, and so far, you lot seem to be mute." It laughs.

 

The creatures dance around Sapphire some more, occasionally dipping in to attack.


Ignia seems to be rather annoyed by this, flying back to the phoenix and grabbing it's head, waiting for a red dot to appear on her.

 

Her body seems to be reduced to splinters and metal scraps after a minute.


Ignia's bashed off to the side.
"Come on, give up the dog and I'll pretend I wasn't told to kill you lot."

 

"What's wrong? I didn't intend on killing her, just a duel you know." He thinks.

 

The creatures disappear, leaving the splinters and scraps alone.


Ignia regains her balance and flies back drawing the heat from the phoenix into herself.


"Dog?" Victus asks, confused.

 

"No, I mean, talking might not be out the window. Rema said that the Ziz liked wyrms, and not normal dragons. Rema's a wyrm."

She's swat to the side again.

"Her." It says, glaring at Gaia.
"...Don't turn on me..."

 

Ignia just tries again, this time trying to dodge the phoenix's swat.


"And what use would you have with her? You'd be much better off with someone more powerful." Mortimer asks.

 

It's hard to dodge a wing the size of one of a small town.


"She's soft, but that just means there's room for improvement. I'm sure she'd put up more of a fight if she didn't have the heart to protect you from incineration."

 

Ignia decides to sink her claws into the wing to hold on.


"What is an ally without a heart, though? Not unlike those dark creatures we faced, I'd say." Mortimer says.

 

Her claws start to soften...


"I don't want allies, I want slaves!" It roars, rearing up.

 

Ignia pulls her claws out, but tries to stay on.


"What use is an unhappy slave? A happy ally would do far more than an unhappy slave, who may use every opportunity to escape or turn on you." Mortimer says.

 

"What? Use her as bait or something?"

 

It's easier when it gets distracted and stops trying to bat Ignia out of the air.

"The Hive Master has given me the greatest gift of all - the gift to strip the stubborn of their will..." It laughs. "Now, hand over the dog or I dare you beat me at my own game!"
"Don't..." Gaia mutters.

"No, get her to talk! She'll like Rema, and then she might calm down!"

 

"That may be so, but to strip the will is to strip the self. Don't you see that he has not gifted you at all? He has instead stripped you of your own will, your own sense of self, and you are no more a puppet than those you wish to create." Mortimer asks.

Ignia heads to the back of the phoenix, waving her arms about and trying to make herself a target.

 

The phoenix can't even see her.

"My will is his will, and I will not stop until I turn his foes from ash into my slaves!" It roars, diving down and crushing the castle.

 

"Oh, like that. But how am I supposed to contact her now that we'r here? Maybe the spectral plane or Something?"

 

Ignia tries to attract the attention of the artillery, instead of the phoenix.


"Your will is not his will, his will is yours. You've fallen to his control." Mortimer says.

As the phoenix crushes the castle, there's one part it can't crush: Stephanie's shield around herself and her totem, the totem flowing it's charged up power into her.

Stephanie rises up from the ground, eyes glowing violet and hair fully purple as she points toward the phoenix. The phoenix feels a strong force trying to override it's mind.
